Premiership clubs are threatening legal action to demand Saracens’ are expelled from the league

if the champions contest any guilty verdict arising from their alleged breach of the salary cap.

Sportsmail has learned that informal talks among the top-flight clubs have produced a consensus that Saracens must be severely punished if they are found guilty of having flouted the £7million cap. This has led to a resolve to pursue the matter through the courts if the Premiership and European Champions Cup holders appeal against any sanctions.

What power do the other clubs have in pursuing a severe punishment? Is it not down to the League and pre-set rules/punishments?

Seems odd they're threatening legal action over something that hasn't been charged, hasn't been sentenced, and hasn't been contested.

Mind you standard cr*p article with very little detail and no quotes whatsoever.

If they're within regulations (whether it be pushing the boundaries or not) then they're fine and more fool others for not doing the same. If not then a fine & sizeable but not impossible points sanction is the way to sort it i'd say.

Also I feel that their squad or the players salaries should be reduced to the level of the salary cap
I see no reason why they should be allowed to continue operating outside the cap.

Oh and ,for what it's worth they , should be stripped of any of the titles/cups they achieved whilst breaking the cap

Is that in the agreed rules/laws? You can't change the punishment after the fact.

I think it should be the law could change going forward that a points deduction comes through for the season in question and the one after. Also the European tournaments don't have a salary cap., so no punishment can be given there except from enough points taken off to put a team to 7th or below and therefore miss out on Euro rugby next year.

You may well be right but I do think it's probably morally wrong for them to be celebrated as champions when they might have only achieved it through cheating!
And

Surely they wouldn't be allowed to continue breaking the cap??!!!!
