Whoever we put on the wings this season, if we can get them in space we are going to cause teams problem. Absolute pace with all of our wingers. Odogwu is looking like a man possessed. Not only has he got the pace but my word he's got power too.

Callum Sirker clearly the pick of the lot! He terrified defences in attack who simply have no answer to his ridiculous pace and he can defend too!! What makes him all the more special is that he’s a true product of the Academy setup - I believe he joined when he was 11 and then came back to the Senior Academy at the age of 19 after being ‘let go’ by the old Academy Manager (forgotten his name!!)

The role of the winger has evolved. Pace and the ability to step are essential but defensive capabilities have become as important in a winger' s skill set.

I've not seen enough of Odogwu, Kibiridge or Sirker in the 15 a side game to know what their defensive capabilities are like under pressure.

No doubt that will become clearer over the next 4 weeks.

Hopefully with Daly gone we'll have a more stable and defensively stronger midfield which won't leave the wingers hung out in impossible situations.

liked Sirker the most out of those 3....simply because of his raw pace. Having said the likes of May have that top end too and the difference is how you exploit the gaps and pace is just part of it.
Manu busts through and would be easily catchable but you've then got to bring him down anx the mayhem has been caused, so although pace is unteachable you need something to embellish it with.

I think Sirker might have something x factor him like Thorley has...
im hoping it is a big year for him

Sirker was very committed in defence as well. I don't know what his kicking is like, but I would play him now. Make sure he knows he is getting the opportunity first before the new guys.

Kiribirdge looks the most ready to me, but a great situation to be in.

I thought Umaga looked a bit small frame wise yesterday, though has bags of skill. Odogwu is a bit of a unit isn't he?

Certainly we look to have plenty of gas. The main problem will be trying to avoid the temptation to go wide when we have not "earned the right". The other will be to not keep kicking the ball away so that they do get some ball and are not just used on a kick chase. Hopefully we will fall somewhere between these points and be able to see what they can do. I am trying to remember a pro Wasps side without exciting wingers- it seems to be part of the DNA.

I think deciding who to pick on the wing is going to come down to who we are playing and adopting a game plan to beat said team. BT commentary alluded to Odogwu being in the Tuisova mould and being best used in 15s coming off his wing and attacking down the central channels which I found interesting. Therefore against a Sarries where they have Farrell and Barrett strong you probably wouldn't go with him. If you want out and out gas and want to beat a team out wide then you'd go Sirker or Kibirige. However I'd still put it out there that come Irish if our 5 wingers are fit Josh and Watson probably still have the shirts but which ever wingers we put out this season I'll be very happy.

There are 4 games before that to try the newcomers out.

Watson and Sirker are first choices for me right now.

Real pace.

I think I’d go with Sirker and Bassett on the wings with Watson at fullback for my Premiership starting XV at the moment.

That is a big call at fifteen. Iould be interested to see it, if it worked it would be remarkably fast.

Has Watson ever played full back in 15s? Think we're a long way from seeing him there.

Really don't understand the hype around Sirker. Yes he looks good in 7s, but I don't see what he's done in 15s to justify being a frontline Premiership player

" but I don't see what he's done in 15s to justify being a frontline Premiership player"

That is the point. He has not been given an opportunity. He should be, IMO.

I saw Sirker play 15’s against Leicester Tigers at Broadstreet towards the end of last season.
No one got near him with his steps and explosive pace. He scored 4 tries mostly from some distance.
He was outstanding.

9 tries in the last 4 Prem Shield matches. Second highest try scorer in the competition having played one less game than the highest try scorer. Equalled Christian Wades highest try scoring tally (8 tries) two years in a row in the Prem 7s. Outplayed and out scored both Kibirige and Odogwu in their first outing this season together. Without doubt the quickest player in the squad. A born finisher. I could go on!!

Watson has played 15 before. I think it was against Wuss. I can't remember if it was for the whole game or moved from the wing to 15 during the game as cover due to lack of resources in the squad. He may have played 15 before elsewhere. Given the much bigger squad this season I hope Dai doesn't play it safe again and simply place "known" players out of position but trusts the wider squad to step up where needed.

Regarding Sirker - As others have said. He's not been given a chance to prove himself in senior games but hopefully that will change this season having been promoted from the academy.

All he could do was shine in the A games which he did, very brightly. Not everyone can make the step up but Dai and Sirker won't find out until he's given a chance, and I don't mean a handful of games in the premiership Cup. He needs some game time in the premiership as well and Dai can take stock at the end of the season.

Afterall, a season gone and the jury is still out on Lima Sopps, a former All Black. It does seem to take time to adjust to playing at EPL level and style.
