Cov telegraph saying the rugby paper are speculating Worzel could be joining prior to next season.

Also stating a proper statement on Dai due next week.

TRP uses Worsley as a headline in an article saying Dai will cost us a fortune to leave, Alex King is not interested and Dave Walder is being spoken to. Nothing in it suggests we are in conversation with Worzel. Sadly.

I wonder if in reality, like the Pochettino situation at Spurs, that they will continue to pay his salary until he finds another job - gardening leave.

If he gets the Ospreys or another job soon ten he'd be off our wage bill saving us lots of money.

Bearing in mind the Cov Tel was the paper who scooped the Dai situation in the first place, and TRP is well known for filling its pages with waffle based on forum gossip I know which I consider more reliable.

VV the CovTel is quoting TRP in this case. I actually think Fissler is one of the better rumour merchants but the article says Worsley could make a return before launching into the cost of Dai departing, the comment that King prefers to stay at Brive and that Wasps have expressed an interest in Dave Walder. It doesn't say anything about us speaking to Joe - I hope to hell we are though.

Ospreys are skint, Dai would be hugely pay cut if he goes there.

If Wasps have to pay out his contract he'll be able to afford it.

Lots of speculation.
I think you will find Howley will be the man next season.
Pretty strong rumour sources suggesting interviewed last month.
Done deal!

I hope not, I’d rather have Dai to be honest.

I wouldn’t build your hopes up then.
Personally don’t see how we can be any worse off with Howley.
Personally wouldn’t be my choice, though I’m willing to give who ever comes in the opportunity to start freshening things up and hopefully moving Wasps in the right direction.

Which would presumably come down to the question of 'was he pushed, or did he go because the board would not back him'.

I think Joe would be a good choice for Head Coach. His defence back ground much needed too. Sounds like we are looking at a head coach and a DoR. Schmidt would be amazing at in a DoR looking at the overall vision of the club.

For the right person we’d be a great club to join. Underperforming and losing close games. Lots of young talent coming through and a new training facility on the way. I don’t think we’ll be short of applicants!

Biggest danger is in the short term for recruitment and retention. We haven’t announced much so would be good to have clarity fast as I’m sure players might hold off signing on the dotted line until they see what’s happening.

I also don’t think Rob Howley is Head Coach material.

The mere fact that he got himself into an illegal betting farce just before a hugely important World Cup tournament, despite unfortunate family circumstances, means he has some internal issues going on.
In my opinion, I don’t think he has the strength of character or the skills to be a top notch Head Coach. Baxter, McCall, Lam, Boyd, Ackerman etc. I just don’t think Rob has the skills to match these types of coaches.
And I haven’t seen enough to think he’s even an excellent attack coach.

I would prefer Walder, Worsley, King. More cerebral thinkers.
I’m sure Rob is a lovely guy, but (for me) he lacks the aura, the presence and strength to be a top notch Head Coach.

Just my opinion.

In 1997 Springbok lock Johan Ackermann received a two-year ban after nandrolone was found in his urine sample. Talking to Rugby World, the head coach of Super Rugby’s Lions explained that he had taken the banned substance on advice to help him recover from a knee injury.

I asked Fis on twitter if there was substance to the Worsley story and he says there is. Pinch of salt and all that.

I think, like in any job be it sport, business or elsewhere, the person you bring in has to have proven credentials to qualify them

So for me Rob Howley hasn’t demonstrated anything that qualifies him for the job. He’s never lead a successful side without one of the dynamic duo of Edwards or Gatland. I know he kept Gat’s seat warm with Wales but all the systems and selections were in place for him to pick up, and Gats was always there in the background anyway.

With Worzel, I think he’s proven himself as a quality head and defence coach in the day in, day out grind of a league competition, so fits the bill.

Could be that Howley is brilliant but there’s nothing that points to that being a gamble worth taking, and we can’t afford to get it wrong with our finances.

What we desperately need is someone who can take over the defence and build from there, bring in his own coaches and players and get rid of the dross that we’ve accumulated. Worzel would be perfect for me.
