Shaun Edwards...back at Wasps at some stage if Cips doesn't have his way?

Lovely words to hear from Shaun.
And it must have been a close run thing to having him back at Wasps this season.

Quote:
Edwards joined France for the 2020 Guinness Six Nations following the end of his long service with Wales from 2008 through to the 2019 World Cup. He is contracted through to the 2023 World Cup with the French and while this will mean he will have spent the majority of his coaching career in the Test arena, he still craves a return to club coaching where his talents were central to the great Wasps team of the mid-noughties.
“Yeah, I still keep in touch with the owner at Wasps. He is an absolute gentleman and one day I would love to give him a trophy,” said France defence coach Edwards about whether he might wind up back in the club game in England, the country where the exit of Johan Ackermann at Gloucester recently created a Premiership vacancy.

“Gloucester is always a place I have maybe fancied going. I was talking to Danny (Cipriani) the other day. Me and Danny are pretty close. He was saying, ‘Would I be interested?’ I said, ‘I have got to repay the faith that France have put in me first Danny before I would come back to a club position like that’.

“But yeah, I am always interested. I do want to coach for a number of years yet. I’d like to hope that my best years as a coach are ahead of me and I will continue to better myself as a coach.”

Just shows how much Wasps means to Shaun.
And also surely highlights that Danny can't be quite the pr**k some people on here believe him to be. If Shaun holds him as a close friend, then he must be a pretty decent bloke deep down. Shaun has an excellent bulls**t detector.

I think DH is hanging in there at Glaws but has 'lost" the dressing room. He wants Howley, the squad appear to favour Teague...

Im sure Cips has a view but it seems quite a collective position..

I think Edwards will help make France a formidable team.
I hoped the RFU would have made him an offer in place of Jones but now England have to endure Jones AND contend with Edwards as an opponent...

There's no way Shaun is leaving the French National side anytime soon.
When he commits....he commits.
He's just built those relationships...so I imagine he'll be there through to the next World Cup...unless something 'French' happens, of course.

Shame Shaun isn't with us. England now have the bluffer Jones until the next world cup, it's the RFUs fault, when England could have had Shaun for half what Jones is getting.

In fairness to Shaun, nothing says a future employer wants you more than agreeing terms with you, holding a press conference to unveil you as the new coach and then not actually presenting you with a contract at any point within the next 7 months...

That would be some irony if Dai Young (who is one of those being considered for the Gloucester job) ended up at the Cherry and Whites.
One of the reasons Danny Cipriani left Wasps was because the relationship between Dai and himself wasn’t strong enough. They both see the game in different ways.
How bizarre if they both ended up together again.
I can’t imagine Cips being too pleased. I can’t imagine it working to be honest.

Not sure.... I think DY was more upstairs than training ground and if he joined Glaws he would be under Humphries so he could focus on forwards, training etc
I would also guess that players were canvassed as to any foreseeable problems.

Now, if they didnt factor in all that, and Cips left, that would potentially leave a rudderless ship even more adrift.

If that is what they want, then fine, but to be oblivious and not have thought of it....???

I think senior players would need to be onboard...as they would anywhere..

So now Humphries has followed Ackermann out of the door at Glaws, and they're supposedly looking to consolidate into one position (as Wasps have done). Not sure if they have a Head of Performance as we have now done but interesting decision. Especially when compared with Tigers going in the other direction by having both.

I'll be interested to see how each model develops into next season.

Assuming next season takes place I would suggest the squad with the best players will develop most!

My abiding image is of DY's ineffectual post match analysis for the camera, along with the ability to not rectify those issues week in, week out.
Not a lot different from Akemanns last few months so i wouldn't want Glaws to repeat the same mistakes.

I can't see an expensive coaching team coming in, unless Howley will be cheap.

I don't think Glaws need to rush the decision...
