Two very capable sides and seemingly well matched in most areas. I think we've got an edge in quality of replacement halfbacks but I think they may have superiority in the starting pack. Wasps often struggle at lineouts without Launchbury so hoping we can pressure them there, but I'd be happy with an LBP from this.

Got a chance, if everything goes for us. Hopefully Tom Parton puts last week's game behind him.

Wasps back-line looks less stellar than in recent seasons.

It's live on BT Sport (Sm141)

Less stellar maybe but few impressive names in there. Couple All Blacks, a 9 who should be playing for England and a quality full back.

Feels like we should have a chance. But got to remember we'recommend still building together as a squad. And will need more time together.

I think key area will be how does Jackson does against Sopoanga and Rona vs Fekitoa

Bris fan in peace. Looking forward to your match this afternoon to see how your boys go. Hopefully we'll have another season like last year where the promoted team surprise a few heads and have eyes up the table not down.

How many of your new signings have integrated with the squad already and how many have you still to come in? I only noticed Botha rona and Jackson in todays squad.

Only Botha, Rona and Jackson have joined up so far, although Dell may have arrived this week.

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 14:03
What on earth was that penalty...

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 14:11
WAS 3 - 5 LIR Blair Cowan

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 14:20
6 - 5

Re: Teams Up
FrTed 20 October, 2019 14:24
LI being outplayed at the breakdown by pure Wasps agressiion

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 14:28
Yeah we are getting turned over way too often...

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:32
Looking good in attack but horrible at the breakdown ...

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:40
Nicely done line-out move for the try ... followed by a dross kick for the conversion. PJ not great with the place-kicking today.

Re: Teams Up
cjm. 20 October, 2019 14:42
Breakdown is pathetic!

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:45
Yep - although in the last one the Wasps player that picked the ball up was the 2nd man in so surely hands in the ruck?

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:46
Plus Wasps should have seen yellow earlier. But LI need to sort out the breakdown for the 2nd half to have a chance.

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 14:47
HT 16 - 19 Irish in the lead. Wasps' discipline keeping us in the game but yeah breakdown has been woeful.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:52
If they can sort out the breakdown they have a good chance as they've looked pretty good when they've managed to keep hold of the ball. Encouraging signs when we have a more to come in.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:53
Hopefully Paddy's place kicking will get better too ... missed a couple of sitters.

Re: Teams Up
Griff 20 October, 2019 14:54
I'd say that neither JP nor PJ are having great games. Albert is class though, good to see he can make the jump to GP.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 14:56
JP never does - hopeless ref.

Re: Teams Up
Shawshank 20 October, 2019 14:59
Love the attacking intent.

Best Premiership first half display since the Quins Double-Header win.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:04
Another nice try ... one more for the TBP ...

Re: Teams Up
cjm. 20 October, 2019 15:05
tuisue is a monster No 8 so far!

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:06
He's having a great game

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:11
Scrum is also an issue ... but 16-29 is way better than expected at this point -

Re: Teams Up
x_ile 20 October, 2019 15:17
Given the general tone of the comments above, I was expecting to find LI being about 70 0 down.

I look forward to supporters' observations when LI are actually losing rather than apparently giving Wasps a bit of a spanking. (Sm110)

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:20
Attacking is great - breakdown and scrum not so much ... Wasps can quickly strike back.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:24
But very encouraging given the players still to come in ...

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:36
YC and Wasps try - was coming for some time. Frustratingly LI gave up a free kick from a defensive line-out due to a simple error in concentration.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:41
Wasps jump across the line out and knock the jumper over but that's fine according to JP.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:43
Cowan questioning JP for an offside as a Wasps player knocks on and the Wasps player in front catches it - Cowan right, JPD wrong.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:44
AR calls against black in the scrum but JPD resets ...

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 15:50
Throwing away the game...

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:51
Jeez how far can Wasps go in the side of a maul and get away with it .... JPD is shocking

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:53
That's a high tackle???

Re: Teams Up
Alphacat 20 October, 2019 15:54
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Teams Up

Fanxxxxxxtastic win. Well done Irish (pure grit and determination).

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 15:56
Phew - despite JPD's best efforts ... well done guys- - good signs with the players still to come in.

Re: Teams Up
Shawshank 20 October, 2019 15:58
UNBELIEVABLE WIN!

Re: Teams Up
cjm. 20 October, 2019 15:59
Certainly very different refereeing to the WC, for better and worse.

Re: Teams Up
Heaf 20 October, 2019 16:02
Defence compared to last time in the prem was a massive improvement. Work on the breakdown and scrums and it should be looking good. Some great attacking play too.

Re: Teams Up
AlecW 20 October, 2019 16:09
SUPERB win, Irish...! Watched it on a Unibet stream and was awestruck by our defence, wit & invention in attack and general ‘dog’. Hugely impressed...

And - unlike the flashy win in the LDH two years ago, after which we won feck-all - I think this away performance showed so many more of the rugby basics (including DEEEEEEE-fence!) needed to stay up...

MOTM Blair Cowan for me...!

Massively encouraged by that...!

JPD was terrible.. Ugo Moyne is a @#$%&.. great effort and fantastic start to the season.. defence was fantastic.. scrums improved as the game went on .. COYI

Keep it Going Irish!!!!

LONDON IRISH ? TO THE BACK BONE !!

Re: Teams Up
simo112 20 October, 2019 16:17
Wanna just say how good I thought Botha was. I know he was carded but he was immense all game.

Re: Teams Up
AlecW 20 October, 2019 16:20
First world problem, HK P, first world problem...!!!

And the kind of problem it is nice to have, after a tough away game for the first one! Sapoaga, Fekitoa, Robson, Willis. Kruse, Gaskell, Brookes etc are not mugs, y’know...!

Re: Teams Up
M51 20 October, 2019 16:22
Great defence I guess Brad Davis has made the difference. Not forgetting some great mauls and some great running by Ben and OHC. I thought Ben Meehan played well and kicked superbly.
Finally MoM to Blair was fully justified, he belied his years and put in a tremendous shift.
More of that please Irish.
