Fixture setting process

Does anyone know how the fixture setting process for the premiership works? Iím assuming that the fixture setters will want to enter into the spirit of the occasion by making sure that we get Exeter, Sale or Bath as our opponents for our first match at Brentford and that we wonít be playing Worcester or Falcons until well after Christmas. By the same token, I have no doubt theyíll also be ensuring that Falcons get to play the top six teams in each of their first six matches...

You would need to be Nostradamus to predict the schedule and I'm certainly not clairvoyant. There must be some sort of system, but whatever it is, Irish v Quins at Brentford for the first round of matches would be ideal. Even better if we won it. Would surely be a decent crowd.(Sm63)

Promoted team usually get the prem champions first up. I hope we've seen the last of the double header.

It seems unnecessarily harsh to put the promotee up against the champions for their first match - hardly likely to foster a competitive league!
