Robshaw dropped for 2nd test

Stephen Jones has his wish - CR dropped for Shields. Cips on bench. Brownie still on wing.

Starters

15 Elliot Daly (Wasps, 19 caps), 14 Jonny May (Leicester Tigers, 35 caps), 13 Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs, 11 caps), 12 Owen Farrell (Saracens, 59 caps), 11 Mike Brown (Harlequins, 70 caps), 10 George Ford (Leicester Tigers, 46 caps), 9 Ben Youngs (Leicester Tigers, 75 caps); 1 Mako Vunipola (Saracens, 50 caps), 2 Jamie George (Saracens, 26 caps), 3 Kyle Sinckler (Harlequins, 11 caps), 4 Joe Launchbury (Wasps, 52 caps), 5 Maro Itoje (Saracens, 20 caps), 6 Brad Shields (Hurricanes/ Wasps, 1 cap), 7 Tom Curry (Sale Sharks, 2 cap), 8 Billy Vunipola (Saracens, 35 caps)

Finishers

16 Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs, 6 caps), 17 Joe Marler (Harlequins, 57 caps), 18 Harry Williams (Exeter Chiefs, 9 caps), 19 Mark Wilson (Newcastle 2 caps), 20 Nathan Hughes (Wasps, 15 caps), 21 Ben Spencer (Saracens, 1 cap), 22 Danny Cipriani (Wasps, 14 caps), 23 Denny Solomona (Sale Sharks, 3 caps)

Fair enough to drop Robshaw as I think he needs a rest. Odd to have no second row cover again, and to have Wilson on the bench. Would have thought second row cover and Simmonds over Wilson would be better (assuming Simmonds is fit, and on the tour, haven't checked!)

Even though he took his try well I still think Brown in the wing is a poor selection. Rather see him and Daly swap. Hopefully Daly has been taught how to touch down in goal area too.

Prefer Robson on the bench too.

I hope Launchbury is actually fit as otherwise we'll see Shields in the second row pretty early on anbd then a fairly slow back row

Mind you, pretty sure that's been said before.

As EJ said, Robbo’s just out of form. He also looked massively fatigued. In that excellent analysis piece I posted, one of the symptoms was how he was so tired/altitude affected that he missed his lift on Itoje when MI had read the line out and would have stolen it.

Although Shields’ arrival does present a fresh challenge for CR that he may find harder than previous ones.

I'd expect the England camp to know how fatigued Robshaw is. I think he has a battle to keep his place which is how it should be but I don't think he is finished with England.

Apart from Brown on the wing I think the team can win...but we need to get things right.

I think Brown is there to help Daly as it is clear that there
isn't anyone pushing for Browns place.
Both Watson and Daly aren't there yet. Imo.

They all get mandatory 5 weeks' rest after the tour, right?

I think the whole England team needs a rest.

I think the whole England team needs a P45

Not a surprise but as it’s dropping rather than benching, I think it is fatigue related and some R&R will be good for him.

My prediction...

- that’s the end of Robshaw in an England shirt
- Brown has a few more games until Nowell is back unless either Daly or Cipriani totally fail at 15
- Care still in with a chance but needs to fly for Quins from day 1
- Sinckler....not sure...still seems to give away too many pens so if dropped for game 3 may be over for him

We could be entering a phase of very few Quins players in an England shirt

Yeah I think other than Marler and Sink off the bench the others aren’t going to see too many more caps.

Over? Sink is 25...
