- Ooh. That's interesting.. & makes a lot of sense now that both JK and Rowntree have both departed, as he was forwards coach at Ulster before his present Ealing jaunt. Plus, he's a Quins Old Boy (-you could say he's actually taken the route Minty should..)
- Anyone know what the Ulster pack was like during his tenure? - Ditto their lines-out?
If true then Tips is bringing in his own team and we will see a few more departures.....They are moving about as quickly as Kim Il Dok is in changing Message Boards...
If at first you don't succeed, Try, Try and Try again.
This is his CV according to Trailfinders site .....
Alex Codling joined the club’s coaching staff at the end of the 2015-16 season. He knew the club well from his time at Rosslyn Park, whom he twice led to second place finishes in National 1 during his tenure at the Rock from 2013 to 2015. After he left south-west London following the 2014-15 season coached at Ulster Rugby. Prior to moving into coaching the 42-year-old Codling had an impressive playing career in which he won one cap for England, against Argentina in Buenos Aires in 2002. The Lewisham-born second-row began his career with Richmond then played for Neath before he played for Harlequins, Northampton Saints and Saracens in the Premiership and Montpellier in the Top 14. Codling began his coaching career with Ebbw Vale and while there won the Welsh Coach of the Year. He then joined the London Welsh coaching staff before moving onto Barking as Head Coach and then London Scottish, as forwards’ coach. In 2012 he joined led Rotherham Titans for a season, when he then accepted the post at Rosslyn Park.
i dont mind the fact he has moved a round a bit as a coach, he has been learning his craft, which is safe to say some of out other coaches should be doing.
I think now he is moving to a premiership club, he will be looking to bed down and earn his stripes with a view of a HC role there in the future or somewhere else, to do that he will need to spend a few years with quins.
