Bit of Analysis

Iím not a great fan of the BBC Rugby Union Weekly podcast. But an interesting break down of the Saints and the game this weekend. Wonderful stat about Naiyaravaro making as many metres as 22 of the tigers players together (Jonny May made half of the tigers metres). But even more interesting talking about how they play. Weíve already commented on the backs playing whatís needed rather than the position on your back, but I liked the analysis of quick ball. The Saints like playing quick ball, we can see that, and they have really worked on the skills. But itís when they do kick the ball thatís important as well. Whenever the ball slows down then they grubbed through. Not keeping the ball for no reason. Use the ball and if you canít use it, grubber and restart. Of course it helped that the tigers line out was an abomination. But it shows a real maturity in playing and a commitment to a style.
