LEEDS TYKES SUPPORTERS ASSOCIATION

CONSTITUTION

 

1)     Formation of Association

a)       The Association will be known as “Leeds Tykes Supporters Association”. Hereinafter referred to as “the Association”.

 

2)       Objectives of the Association

a)       To serve the interests of its members and foster good relations between rugby supporters.

b)       To form a liaison between the supporters and the management of Leeds Rugby Limited including representing the views of the supporters to the board of the club.

c)       To support the teams representing the Leeds Tykes and their players on and off the field.

 

3)       Committee

a)       The Committee will comprise of :    

i)         Chairperson

ii)       Vice Chairman

iii)      Secretary

iv)      Treasurer

v)        Membership Secretary

vi)      3 Ordinary Members

b)       No member of the committee shall be a club official or executive, paid or unpaid.

c)      The positions to elected for a 1 year period. The Founding Committee members will serve until the AGM in 2003 at which time the first elections will be held. If a committee member resigns mid-term, an EGM may be called to elect his/her replacement at the discretion of the remaining committee members.

d)      Quorum: A quorum shall consist of a simple majority of the standing committee. Any member of the committee may appoint a deputy, who must also be a member of the Association, to attend a meeting at which he/she is unable to attend and such deputy shall have the power to vote.

e)      Any committee member can propose the appointment of a temporary committee member, for a specified period of time, to assist the committee with a specified social event or official activity. The co-opted member (or members) shall be able to attend all committee meetings within the specified period, voting rights to be granted at the committee’s discretion upon appointment.

f)        There shall be a minimum of 4 committee meetings per year, which shall be reported to members in the Association Newsletter, & where possible on the Independent Tykes website.

g)      Voting Rights: Each committee member will have one vote, the Chairman will have an additional casting vote. Co-opted committee members voting rights are at the discretion of the committee – see rule 3e.

 

4)       Annual General Meeting

a)       The Annual General Meeting shall take place at the end of the season. No more than 15 months shall normally elapse between one AGM and the next.

b)       Notice of the AGM shall be sent to members not less than 28 days prior to the Meeting.

c)       Agenda items & resolutions for consideration at the AGM shall be lodged, in writing, with the  Secretary not less than 14 days before the date of the meeting.

d)       Election of Officers: Nominations, signed by both the Proposer and Seconder, for any office on the committee must be lodged with the Secretary not less than 14 days before the date of the Meeting.

e)       Quorum: As per the Committee rules. A minimum of a simple majority of standing committee members or their appointed deputies must be present.

f)         Approval of agenda items, resolutions & election of committee members is by simple majority of attending members.

 

5)       Membership

a)       Full Membership is only for those 18 years and above as at 31 August. Junior Membership is for those under 18 years as at 31st August.

b)       Only Full Members will be entitled to vote or serve as Committee Members.

c)       Membership is open to all Leeds Tykes fans, unless previously expelled from the Association or any other rugby supporters’ association.

d)       The committee shall have the power to expel any member, or refuse membership to anyone, whose behaviour is deemed, on a ballot of two-thirds of the committee, to be contrary to the welfare and well being of the Association, by informing such member in writing of their decision. The member shall have his/her subscription paid for the current season returned.

e)       No member of the Association will have direct access to the National Rugby Supporters Association; any contact will be made via the Leeds Tykes Supporters Association representative.

 

6)       Financial

a)       Subscriptions: There will be an initial annual subscription for Full Membership of £1.00 per annum, Junior Membership fees will be £0.50 for the 2002/2003 season.

i)         The level of subscriptions for the following season is to be confirmed at the AGM.

ii)       Subscriptions shall become due on 1st September and shall be paid by 1st October if not received by this date membership is deemed to have lapsed.

iii)      Members joining mid way through the season still pay the full subscription fee.

iv)      The funds are required for the administration of the Association and organising of social events.

b)       Accounts: The financial year end for the accounts of the Club shall be 30th April. The completed accounts shall be circulated prior to the Annual General Meeting for approval by the members.

 

7)       Extraordinary General Meetings

a)       Can be called by a simple majority of the committee or a minimum of 10% of paid up members of the Association at any time.

b)       Callers of the EGM must give not less than 14 days’ notice, by circular which must specify the subject to be discussed.

c)       Quorum: As per the Committee / AGM rules.

 

8)       Dissolution

a)       In the event of the dissolution of the Leeds Tykes Supporters’ Association, any income or property remaining will be devoted to Clubs or Societies with similar aims and objects, or to a charitable purpose associated with Leeds Tykes.

 

9)       Rules

a)       These Rules can only be amended at an AGM (or at an EGM called for that purpose), by more than two-thirds of the members present voting in favour.
