As Worcester Warriors returned to competitive action after their enforced hiatus, the atmosphere at Sixways crackled with expectation — and they did not disappoint. The opening 40 minutes belonged largely to Coventry. Despite Worcester’s intent in attack, the visitors were sharper and more precise, converting chances into points. By half-time, Coventry held a two-score cushion, leading 19-7, after capitalising on defensive lapses and penalty opportunities.
Worcester’s only first-half points came via a try and conversion from flyhalf Will Reed. They could not penetrate the Coventry defensive line cleanly, their momentum was checked too often by penalties and turnovers. Coventry’s defence held firm, and they entered the break in the stronger position.
The narrative shifted dramatically after the break. The Warriors, galvanised by the home crowd, started to string phases together more purposefully and applied sustained pressure. That pressure paid dividends as Worcester began to dominate the territory battle and started converting their worked for opportunities.

Next up Hartpury away, they’ll look to build consistency, manage injuries, and refine cohesion as the Championship campaign unfolds. But for now, Sixways is celebrating a winning return — and a reminder that this club still knows how to fight back.
