Looking ahead to the Exeter game Bester added, “We want those points, we need those points.

“We need to make sure that our mental approach is right, that’s very important. We also need to develop our killer instinct. Our preparation has been at match speed and we are very focused, I’m happy with how things have gone. It’s when we are not focused that trouble can appear.

“Exeter play a brilliant wide expansive game, I don’t know where people get the impression that they are a forwards orientated unit. We played them three times last season and they played a wide game all the time. Actually they are a well balanced side.

FORM GUIDE

Rotherham are the form side coming into the game having won three out of three this season. Exeter on the other hand have won one, drawn one and lost one, the latest being a 13 all draw at home to Coventry in front of 5,200 at their new home – Sandy Park.

The teams have met on 16 previous occasions with Roth holding a 10-6 advantage. However Exeter has had the upper hand in recent times winning 5 out of the last 6 encounters.

Roth must also be careful not give away penalties at the weekend, as the Devonians fly-half Tony Yapp will kick the points all day long. In addition Exeter will not fear any teams set of forwards as traditionally they pride themselves on having a combative pack.

If Roth are going to return home with a victory they will need to cut out the errors that have stained their last two performances. Chances are likely to be at a premium and therefore must be taken when they arise. However if Rotherham perform to their capabilities they will return home from Exeter with the points.
