Pertemps Bees centre Simon Martin will have keyhole surgery on a minor knee injury on Wednesday (October 27). Martin has been troubled by a sore knee for several weeks and the operation will keep the former Bristol and Coventry player, who played in last Saturday's National League One win over Plymouth Albion, out of action for between two and three weeks.
Martin's absence will be balanced by the return to action of his fellow centre Mike Davies. Davies has been absent for five weeks with a knee cartilage problem but he was passed fit to take his place on the replacements' bench against Plymouth and he is expected to start in the league game against Rotherham at Clifton Lane on Saturday October 30 (2.30pm).
Phil Maynard, the Pertemps Bees' director of rugby, will give a fitness test to flanker Nathan Carter, who suffered a neck injury in the defeat at Bristol two weeks ago, before he finalises his side for Rotherham.
The Bees will head to South Yorkshire seeking their first-ever victory over the former Premiership club following double league defeats in 2001/02 and again in the following season, a heavy reverse in the 2001/02 Powergen Shield semi-final and in the Powergen Cup two seasons ago.
