Wolves head coach Paul Cullen was relieved to see his side hold off a spirited Wakefield side on sunday.
Warrington coach Paul Cullen confessed he was relieved to have taken the two points after his side had not been at their best during the hard-fought 38-30 victory over Wakefield.
Cullen said: “We were not at our best and that is not to detract from the Wakefield effort.
“But we scored some very good individual tries and in games like this, after the exhilaration of beating Bradford last week, you need something a little bit special to poke your nose in front.
“You have got to give credit to Wakefield and acknowledge their part in what was a decent game and also acknowledge that we left a little bit at Odsal and if we factor that in it was a very decent two points.
“It could have been after the Lord Mayor’s Show but we fought hard and had enough class and quality not to allow that to happen.”
Wakefield coach Shane McNally was upbeat despite the defeat, saying: “We played a lot better today (Sunday) and I'm pretty upbeat after that performance. We have to keep working hard and keep our nerve and things will turn our way very shortly.
“We made some unforced errors in the first half and at 24-12 down at half time you can't afford to give that much start away, but I was pleased with the response in the second half.”
