Lets hope we can end the season on a high and break this losing streak. It would be great to get a big win to mark Rachel Johnson’s final game in a Chiefs shirt.

Concerned by our form since just before Christmas but hopefully they can pull out one final win for Rachel (and any others that may be saying goodbye)

Last match for Rachel. Hope for a win despite recent form Leicester 22 Chiefs 38.
Chiefs scored in the last minute with a 15 woman maul, to win 24 - 19. Tigers proved to be much better opposition than I expected with some strong defence and good handling. I suspect the possession stats were at least 60:40 in Tigers’ favour, so they clearly stepped up to the challenge.
Sadly the game was somewhat marred by some absolutely atrocious officiating. For example, rather than dive over the line herself Nancy McGillivray decided to pass the ball to Katie Buchanan for Katie to score. A Tigers player intercepts the pass by slapping the ball forward and down one handed on the try line - the ref waves play on…. Later in the game, there’s a scrum on our five metre line and we’re awarded a penalty. Liv McGoverne is about to kick to touch when the ref awards Tigers a scrum and a couple of phases later they score. I don’t normally like to criticise the officials but this guy’s performance had a material impact on the game and could so easily have cost us the result.

So close to the playoffs - Suzie and Co will be gutted and know they should have made it after the start of the season. That said looking at the table reminds one of how close they were. The top two IMO will compete for the final. I hope we can find a Botterman or Kildunne type figure and not lose Claudia MacDonald or Hope Rogers. A ray of light with lots of their play in a dark season.
Sale have just 4 points ... A 12:7 win down here under terrible conditions. It could also be argued that if lightening hadn't intervened causing a 30min break in play, the momentum that was with us at the time could have made the difference. Those 4 points would have seen us displace Bristol and qualify for the finals.
