Barbarians Conquer Limerick

The good citizens of Limerick were treated to an end-of-season thriller as the Barbarians edged past a makeshift Ireland XV by twenty-two points to 21. Shorn of their Munster contingent, and missing other such regulars as Best, Bowe, Henshaw, O'Brien, Payne, and Sexton, the hosts were not exactly at full strength and merely treated the occasion as an opportunity to blood a few new players. In the event, both teams served up a treat as they shared six tries, with Welsh wing wizard Alex Cuthbert achieving a brace for the visitors. Funnily enough all three Ireland tries were scored by Ulstermen, but it was the away team that still narrowly prevailed in the end, helped by a try from Leinster's Zane Kirchner and eight points from the boot of his former team-mate Jimmy Gopperth.
