The three Saints Under21 players taking part in the U21 World Cup in South Africa had contrasting experiences yesterday in the first round of group games in the tournament.
England, skippered by Mark Soden and including Saints hooker James Buckland were demolished by the 'Baby Blacks' of New Zealand 67-23.
The English side were left shellshocked after the NZ side scored three quickfire tries in the opening five minutes and by the end of 80 minutes they had added six more.
On a brighter note Saints hooker Matt Miles was part of the Welsh side which took their Italian counterparts to pieces scoring 12 tries in an 82-12 win.
But this was still 50 points short of the highest score of the day with the home nation the 'Baby Boks' beating Romania 135-0.
