I remember a discussion similar to this when we lost Lammy. Fortunately, we found a man who was equally, if not more, important to the team, the club, the fans and the ethos of the Saints.

Since I was 11 and first started playing and watching rugby I've never seen anyone give so much, off and on the pitch. Andy is the epitome of a living breathing saint. It's an absolute disgrace that one of the greatest men who has ever put on the Green, Black and Gold has not got a thing to show for it. We are about to lose the heart and soul of our club and we cant do a damn thing about it.

Now, I fully understand that Andy wants to move on, wants a fresh challenge and, I imagine, wants to go to Japan and win something. You've got to respect that. Things in life change and we all have to move on. It doesnt make it any easier....

Andy Blowers wasn't there!!!!

I vividly remember watching the World Cup semi final between NZ and the Ozzies. I was sat in the pub with my best mate having a few early ones before we went to the Rec to watch Bath vs some lot that i cant remember the name of....

Anywho, as we slerped at our kronie's and watched as NZ piled on the pressure, Tom turned to me and said, "there's something missing here". "Yes", I replied, "McCaw seems to fighting a one man battle". We both agreed that George Smith and Phil Waugh, though on the back foot, were bossing the game, NZ were struggling with slow ball as the Kiwi's showed their hand and pointed to all and sundry that they had no plan B.

"D'know, I can't see what that suitcase fella is doing Rob. It's a harsh nickname but at the moment it seems warranted". All of a sudden it hit me like a wave. They had one crucial ingredient missing, something that would of brought balance and composure, steely determination, the will to win, in short everything that the All Blacks suitcase captain seemed to lack.

Ruben Thorne seemed like a man out of his depth. The answer to their problems was thousands of miles away, watching the game and most proably pulling his hair out. "I tell you what mate, could you see AB standing for this?" I asked Tom, "No mate, that guys a pimp!" Tom has such an elequent way with words. But still, we felt as if we had seen where the Kiwi's had gone wrong. If AB is irreplaceable to us, imagine being in the situation of the All Blacks and not even having the opportunity to put it right, cos you let him slip through your fingers....

AB would of taken that game by the scruff of the neck and dragged the All Blacks kicking and screaming into the World Cup final. Sometimes there are games that are just made for some players. That in my opinion was one of them.........

Whether we stay up or not is not in my hands, or your hands or in those of Wuss or Leeds. It's not in the hands of Budge and Grays nor, though i'm sure they would love the opportunity, is it in the hands of Stuart Barnes or AB's biggest fan outside my bedroom, Dewi Morris. It's up to the players. If they have half the courage and desire of AB we will stay up comfortably.

On that note i finish with this....

I'm going to miss all the boys who are leaving FG at the end of the season, just as you all are too, but we cant allow AB to go out as a loser.
He's given so much to us all, he deserves so much more from all of us. Let's do everything we can to assure that Andy leaves on a high....
