Always a strange atmosphere when you go to Hartpury ... a very sporting college with no real support base but which has tremendous links with Gloucester Rugby whose training base is there .

That link may be one of the reasosn the College has won three out of the last four games as it strives to stay in the Championship.

We have played them three times ths season and won the lot but this time they are fighin the drop so it won't be easy.

We make four changes - all up front. Toby Trinder and Charlie Clare come into the front row, Will Carrick-Smith is back at lock and Jarad Williams is at number eight.

Blues: 15. Rich Lane 14. Ryan Hutler 13. Ed Coulson 12. Dom Morris 11. Dean Adamson 10. Will Hooley 9. Lee Dickson (capt) 1. Toby Trinder 2. Charlie Clare 3. Ben Cooper   4. Will Carrick-Smith 5. Mark Flanagan 6. Justin Blanchet 7. Josh Buggea 8. Jarad Williams

Reps:  Jacob Fields, Sean McCarthy, Hayden King, Oli Curry, Huw Worthington, James Lennon, Harry Sheppard

How very disappointing. I guess that the Championship Select XXII (Hartpury) wanted it more.
Am I alone in thinking that Bedford (and other sides, no doubt) go off the boil at this point in the season - players retiring, players leaving, players out of contract etc?
I guess that Bedford will have to settle for fourth place now.
Fourth is good BUT we could have certainly secured third had a couple of our poor performances been reversed.

Pirates and one or two others could probably could probably say the same.

I and many others would have settled for fourth at the start of the season especially listening to the doom and gloom merchants and mathematically we could still finish third.

On yesterday's game, I think we were lucky to still be in it at half time that had to be the worst I have seen us play for a long time. Turned it around in the 2nd half and we were unlucky not to win it in the end.

We missed a drop goal at the end as well

More than happy with fourth but honestly with this team higher was potentially there. Still core rending next season letís see and exciting fixtures against ampthill & premiership big boys?

Bedford can afford to field a below strength team against Richmond and still retain fourth even if beaten..........wink! wink!
