What a long summer! But it's definitely now over with the World Cup underway in Japan and the Cherry and Whites back in action at Kingsholm (Saturday ko 3.00)..

The Premiership Cup is mainly an opportunity for some slightly more meaningful warm-up games with hardly any professional clubs organising their usual friendly games.

Irish are this visitors in the first game with both sides taking the opportunity to blood some youngsters - we are even blooding the captain. How many other players have made their debuts both as a player and as skipper?  Lock Simon Linsell will have that honour this seek.

He led Hartpury last season, and it's to be hoped that particular bond won't be weakened when we move to new training HQ in a year or two's time.

Of the remainder only prop Jamal Ford-Robinson hasn't been a Glaws Academy lad.

Gloucs: 15. Reece Dunn; 14. Jake Morris, 13. Tom Stanton, 12. Tom Seabrook, 11. Louis Rees-Zammit; 10. Lloyd Evans, 9. Charlie Chapman; 1. Alex Seville, 2. Henry Walker, 3. Jamal Ford-Robinson; 4. Alex Craig, 5. Simon Linsell (captain); 6. Josh Gray, 7. Aaron Hinkley, 8. Jack Clement.

Reps: 16. Ethan Hunt, 17. Ciaran Knight, 18. Ruan Dreyer, 19. Harry Butler, 20. Joe Howard, 21. Stephen Varney, 22. George Barton, 23. Alex Morgan
