Tough Task Ahead

It very much looks like we will have to win our remaining four games in the Champions Cup if we are to stay in this tremendous competition. The 30-27 defeat at Montepellier saw us come up just short in a game of competing styles and in this case power overcame ambition.

Glaws sought to run the ball from every part of the pitch, but when it went wrong Montpellier had some big units who took full advantage.

We were caught early on when Serfontein took Yvan Reilhac's kick through to score.

Then we lost our own put-in at a five metre scrum allowing number eight Timu pick up and go over.

Callum Braley got us back in the game after Lloyd Evans showed  some class to jink through before Nadolo gave us warning of his strength when he timed a run to perfection. It was chalked off by the TMO- however he was successful minutes later.

Our chances were greatly helped when  Du Plessis was dismissed for swinging his elbow at  Grobler as the pair tried to outmuscle each other in a maul.

Banahan then showed his own finishing strength to reduce he deficit from close range.

Paillaugue's boot kept his side in front and that was to prove decisive when Joe Simpson  came on to score his third try of the tournament.
