While the summer baggage carousel of departures and arrivals continues Quins may already have made their most significant signing.

Sean Long arrives with a formdiable reputation both as a player and a coach - albeit exclusively in rugby league.

This will the former scrum half's first venture into Union where his focus will be on improving running lines and  creating space.

Our game looks increasingly more like 15-a-side league, in some phases at least,  with players strung out in straight lines across the park and even props expected to be more mobile and dominate the space around them. So this looks like a very wise signing.

Whatismore he is clearly a winner. He played for both England and Great Britain, won two World Club Challenges, four Grand Finals and five Challenge Cups and took the  Man of Steel Trophy in the year 2000.

Welcome indeed.
