Whole New Team

Goneva

No less than 15 new faces so far but bhow many of them will make a real impact ... my money is on Vereniki Goneva who is, as they say, some unit.

Ricki is one off three former Newcastle Falcons  to make the journey down the Great North Road so he won't be short of mates on the training pitch. The others, of course, are the  the locks Tevita Cavubati and Glen Young.

The winger is the one who will excite. His strength and finishing create a firsson of excitement whenever he gets the ball and, if he stays injury free, he should have a major impact. Other clubs wanted him - we got him.

The other new signings feature some players who are obviously ones for the future. Stand off Brett Herron and lock Toby Freeman move up for the Championship, while imports Santiago Garcia Botta (prop)and Martin Landajo (another scrum half) and both from  from Jaguares.

The others are hooker Scott Baldwin from Ospreys, Michele Campagnaro the Wasps centre, flanker Will Evans from Leicester, Simon Kerrod a prop from Wuss, Travis Ismaiel a speedy winger from Blue Bulls, back row Tom Lawday from Chiefs , Stephan Lewies a lock from Lions, and young centre Luke Northmore from Cardiff Met.
