Saturday 26th. October 2013 the date that will go down in history with the 20+ travelling Lemon Heads for the infamous “Touchline Gate”. Where an (allegedly) sexist and, dare I say, rude comment was made by an Assistant Moseley Coach to the Female Touch Judge in front of us.......
The fact that this was my first memory of the game is a shame as it was very entertaining with the lads produced a dogged performance in what was a good, if tight, game. It flowed either way in the first half with the lead changing hands 4 times. In the blustery conditions kicking was a lottery but the Leeds determination won through with try’s from ASBO and Hughes in the first half with Jonah and Doc crossing in the second half. The blustery conditions in which the game was played meant that it was almost inevitable there would be a Moseley fight back, I remember it was a very long last 10 mins. Leeds finished with a 18 points to 27 victory.
I’m sure we would all be happy to take a similar result next Friday.
So what can we expect from the protagonists this time round. That’s not going to be easy to predict this early in the season, our first result was, I think it fair to say, a surprise. A win in Cornwall is tough at the best of times but to come away with a bonus point win with so few pre-season games it was astonishing.
Last weekend’s loss was more expected but as I was working in London the Twitter feed started to give me warm glow that maybe there was still some of last years confidence and swagger about the lads. OK Bristol pulled away in the second half but it was not the trouncing expected by a number of fans on the messageboard. The youngsters who have been brought in for cover have performed admirably but hopefully our more experienced will soon be back from their operations which has causing their absence. The performance of these youngsters is a reason to be positive, particularly as we have a relatively small squad when compared to our other promotion hopefuls.
Moseley’s first game was by all accounts a stroll for Jersey in the first half with the home team performing poorly but, where have I heard it before, a Moseley fight back at the death gave them an unexpected draw. Last weeks 23 – 7 loss away to Worcester must have been expected but the quote in one of the Worcester papers was that “Moseley proved they were going to be no pushovers”, this should be noted and Magg’s (rumoured to have applied for the Yorkshire job) is an astute and experienced reader of the game.
The weather forecast is that there will be rain during the day but it is expected to be a dry still evening. I expect a win from the Yorkshire lads with power, speed and open play being the watchwords in the first half. But…………………………….. I also expect to see Moseley hang on tenaciously and still be in touch after the break so yet again a nail biting second half. My guess is that it will be Yorkshire by 10, however I am letting my nails grow in anticipation of them being required as the game draws to an end.

It was a good day out, shame the Friday night KO has ruined the opportunity for another this weekend. I agree that I would settle with the same result this week, as described in an absolutely excellent preview RD.
I want to see a mature, professional performance and as few points conceded as possible from this one.
By mature and professional I mean that, if we get a lead, I don't want us to lose shape and start running it from our own 22 every time we get the ball.

No offence to Moseley, the above isn't a score prediction, just there to illustrate my point.
I was surprised Vickerman was not in the 22, is he injured ? I would like to see him back and see how he and Clark go together, and combine with Lucock. I would also like to see Goss get the ball a bit more as last week he looked like he meant business this season.
If I had all the money I've spent on drink ..... I'd spend it on drink.
