Attendance guess and matchday thread - London Irish

Roll up, roll up

No doubt we are all preoccupied by the ugly but believable rumours reported in The Rugby Paper but we need to move forward to this week's Guess the Attendance Competition.

The Jersey match was round 9 and Albert took one of the few positives out of that day by having the closest guess and now opening up clear blue water between his leading position and the chasing peloton, the table is shown below. Congrats also go to Opus for second place and Redcar, who opened his score with one point for third.

Before anyone thinks of giving up, there are 4 more rounds to go and do not forget that an exact guess scores 5 points.

Round 10 is therefore London Irish at home at I am personally finding it difficult to assess the motivation of the players and also the motivation for home supporters to attend. I suppose we should be positive, put off-field matters behind us and enjoy the event, which is billed as a family fun day. Irish will bring along a healthy contingent and if we can supplement them with 1500 or so of our own, there will be 1782 - which is my guess.

TABLE AFTER ROUND 9
Albert 9 points
opus 6.5 points
hornchurch 6 points
yeldor 5.5 points
bobba, WPL, Madtyke 4 points
LCSF, WW 3 points
Sidestep, yorkie ba, John R 2 points
almo, tower, Redcar 1 point

Having just re-read my opening post, I think I might be up for mixed-metaphor of the year award. Sorry if I implied that Albert is one minute winning (obviously for Cambridge) the Boat Race and then, before you know it, he is in a cycling race.

Good job this competition is about numerical accuracy and not grammar!

Meanwhile get your guesses in, it's later than you think.

Following on from my script on the opening post above, do you feel more inclined to attend Sunday, or less inclined? I suppose if you have a season ticket (as I have), then nothing really to lose and you have paid for it already, so might as well go along. I also suspect that there is a sort of "us against them" camaraderie in the team, plus a desire to exhibit skills that might earn individuals a good contract for next season that could lead to a surprise result.
But non-ST holders - what do you think?

As a non ST holder I will be attending as I do all home matches and most away matches. I think the TRP article showed how fragile the supporters confidence is in the club management, but that is understandable. On reflection I am now unsure the article in the TRP was accurate because self employed journalists are prone to exaggerate to make living.

Can any one actualy confirm there is finacial problems at YC? Because i not seen or heard any thing formally apart from rumour.

I am just going to keep attending and enjoy the rugby and if the club crashes when the money runs out so be it.

Whether they want to or not, some kind of statement is needed from the club at this point.

Hope the behind the scenes events didn't put anyone off - if so you missed the best team performance for a long time. And that's not a rumour!
