What a sorry looking line up.

Was Threepear perhaps referring to the Wasp line-up?

2nd row and 10 a big concern for me, relatively happy with the rest of the picks.
I struggle to understand why Bresler doesn't start when available.
I would prefer Shilly at 10 and CP at 15.

It’s probably because the more games clegg and Kitchener play the better they will be Both were stand out junior internationals who for one reason or another have taken 2 years too long to break through. Bresler will most likely be done after this contract. It’s right that clegg in particular gets more game time, he was rated higher that a lot of his contemporaries who are now getting international squad recognition. We keep saying we need more quality second rows but we have 4 junior international second rows at under 20’s in batley , clegg , Akitchener and Scott. It’s the only way we’ll progress is to let them get to grips with senior rugby in a season that means little.

Having seen 3 strong counter rucks I think AJ was right with the less competing over the ball and more driving in the rucks. Much better in that aspect. Just need the game to settle a little. Mauls a little better too
Quote:One on the right of pitch after a ted tackle one after dole tackle and one on our line. Refs on wrong side of scrum too allo is going early every set and Waller isn’t getting a bindTrueWarrior
I'm fairly sure it's 2 and not 3, but I've never seen a side given a team warning for not rolling away twice in the space of two minutes. Another example of subconcious bias when officiating Worcester? If it was 3, happy to retract this.

Being out refereed! Clear knock on, a neck roll on Kev and countless poor decisions.
But a huge defensive effort so far!

That neck role was very similar to the one that Ross Batty was sent off for in the game when Bath went down to 11.

Too many soft penalties. New tight head looks like he’s getting stuffed.
Quote:Only on loan, this is the issue all season. When Schonerts not fit we don’t compete let alone get a platform. Having seek Kai Owen play in the cavs league against saints last year can see why he’s not getting a bench at loosehead. And at least judge and owlett are better than the tightheads we have. If we had judge today we’d be in a far better position.fozzie66Quote:fozzie66

New tight head is getting stuffed along with new loose head! Can’t win here without a platform. Wasps will want to scrum all second half.
Quote:Can’t do anything about losing by 20 but again we’re losing a game we should win. All stems from the scrummage.Bigmac1979
Poor props = pressure = penalties = loss 4 weak links in the front row and replacements means we lose yet again.
Quote:TrueWarrior
Boils down to the scrum and leadership. How does Simpson not know who that pass is going to at the end. As a young player, it should be spoon fed to him who he is passing the ball to. A(nother) game that has got away from. Win was easily there.
Quote:Trent_Blue
We look clueless and completely out our depth at this level.
Quote:You've hit the nail on the head there TP.Threepear
Pleasantly surprised by the fine margins there. A couple of decent props and we would have but another couple of tries past them. If anything illustrates the importance of investing in the front row, it was that game.

Yep, bang on Mailman. Two front rows would have probably helped us get a win but it’s all ifs and buts. The tactics first half were dreadful and our kicking game really bad. Even with a weak scrum, we should've been able to see the game out vs 14 men. And the last attack was an absolute shambles. Speechless at how bad we have become.

Call me a jaded cynic but, as I’ve just said on another thread, if it wasn’t the props this week then it would’ve been something else. It’s always something. Every week it’s different. But the result is always the same.
Others are welcome to take the positives - and I admire the ability to do that - but that’s not me. I can’t do it anymore.
Quote:Congratulations on the win.Buzzer
Congratulations for the performance in the 2nd half. Commiserations for the loss. We should have had it in the bag by half time, but you made us Wasps have a very squeaky 2nd half.
See you next year. Gonna be tough.
Quote:neiljk
The positives from today were the team spirit looked better and Annett, Clegg and the back row were decent.
The negatives from today were a poor first half, a terrible performance in the scrum and a real missed opportunity when they were down to 14.
Ultimately though I think this is the best this squad of players and coaches is capable of achieving. We can play ok for a half here and there but we’re easily beaten by teams not playing particularly well but doing the basics.
Personally I think we’re kidding ourselves if we think the recruitment for next season is going to propel us from the worst side by a comfortable margin to mid table. We don’t
have enough up front and our coaches don’t seem capable of producing a side that is better than the sum of its parts.
Quote:Judge has been out for 3 months injured, 1st game back. I’ve seen him play at saracens around 2 seasons ago and he was really good. He’s a decent player and much better than what we put out today.WorcesterSauce
Didn't think much of Vailanu either to be honest. And that was in an entirely dominant pack. Judge and Owlett are completely 2nd rate (Judge was really poor when he came on for Bath the other night), Heinz will be 35 and Chudley 33. All hopes are being hinged on these last signings it has to be said.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion (including me) but I sometimes find the vitriol on the forum more depressing than the match result I realise the logical response to that is 'don't read it'. I also appreciate we are currently in a desperate situation, and poor results have dogged us for years. Nevertheless, JT has not been here for years, and I am happy to support him to develop his plans. I feel he deserves a full season of normal non-Covid rugby before being judged by 'Supporters'.
Quote:Does the fact you put the word supporters in parentheses mean that you don’t think we are really supporters? I can assure you I am, just an unhappy one, and with very good reason IMO.Faddy

Quote:The one or two are props were not short anywhere else, there’s no way we’re going into a season with 2 less props than we have now. Callum blacks wage will be decent enough to go towards a loosehead as will schonerts to a loosehead. Bear I’m mind Carey, palfreman, Schonert and black are all off and we’ve only signed 2 tight heads.Whispering_Death
They aren’t good business at all if we don’t sort the prop issue out. In fact I’d say at the moment Duhan is a terrible bit of business and will be 300k completely wasted behind a mullered front five. It’s a complete vanity signing, and he can only be coming here for the money. The club are saying potentially one or two signings to come which tells me we are not in the market for a 1 & 3. In which case it will take a miracle to avoid relegation next year.
