Wasps Part 2 - Ponty name their team!

Pontypridd have named their team for the second leg of their Parker Pen Challenge Cup Semi Final against Wasps - But is this the team that will play? Rad on for more...

PONTY NAME TEAM FOR WASPS PART 2
Pontypridd coach Lyn Howells has named a team to face Wasps on Friday night at Sardis Road. However, the team shows a number of changes from the first leg in High Wycombe where Ponty lost two weeks ago.

Howells has named a back row combination of Richard Parks, Wayne O'Connor and Dale McIntosh as Michael Owen, Geraint Lewis and Nick Kelly are all said to be sidelined.

Also Howells' team selection indicates that he is keeping his faith in out of form winger Emry Lewis for this huge task of winning be more than 15 points although many people feel that the better option would be to select Matthew Nutthal on the left wing. 

The Pontypridd team reads:

We at ValleysRavens.tk, the pre launch site for the new Bridgend Pontypridd regional team are not reading to much into this selection by Howells and below we have selected the team which could possibly be starting on Friday after all, we got it right in the first leg where we named the probable 15 a week before the game and got every name right!

Our selection is:

Brett Davey, Gareth Wyatt, Sonny Parker, Jonny Bryant, Matthew Nutthal, Ceri Sweeney/Neil Jenkins, Paul John.      Gethin Jenkins, Mefin Davies, Duncan Bell, Brent Cockbain, Robert Sidoli, Richard Parks, Wayne O'Connor/Nick Kelly, Geraint Lewis.

We believe that the fly half position will be named at short notice before the game. Sweeney will offer the team more of a running game and utilising the backs effectively but will it be  worth the gamble after seeing the backs being rather lethargic in recent weeks. On the other hand Jenkins can offer the team a stable kicking game and is also known to throw out the perfect pass to the centres and put players into spaces.

But whoever plays for Ponty in what could be their last European game as a stand alone entity the Ponty faithful will be cheering them on for the whole match hoping that the team can respond and get into their second successive European Final, hopefully going one better than last season.
