An idea has been put forward from a former supporter of the Celtic Warriors. For details of the idea read on, its interesting thats for sure.
From Smurf
"Before I start, can we all agree on 2 things
First that we are all pissed off about the Warriors, and second, that we can not turn the clock back to the way it was before.
So what could we realistically hope for in the future?
The first event that we need to look forward to is the Leighton Samuels v WRU court case. If LS wins this would be a great moral victory for the Warriors, but it will not bring us back, only change the bank balances of LS & the WRU and of course their respective legal teams.
If we seriously want the Warriors back, then I suggest that we use the opportunity of the court case to do something along the lines of:
1. Establish a Celtic Warriors Trust, as a representative body for professional rugby in Mid-Glamorgan.
2. Campaign for the WRU to transfer all rights relating to the former Celtic Warriors to the Celtic Warriors Trust. This includes naming rights, and the right in principle to enter a professional rugby team into WRU competitions.
3. Seek commercial backing to re-establish a Celtic Warriors team with Celtic Warriors Trust holding Golden Share in similar way that CAC do with CRFC.
4. Develop sound business plan before applying to WRU to re-establish team, which would probably require 1 year as a development team, and could coincide with one of the other regions failing.
Lots of work to do to make this work, but I think this could be feasible. What do you think?"
Zippy Reaction:
- Why wasn't a trust mooted at the time of the liquidation? We just signed a petition there was plenty of people ready to part with s
- To set this up needs to pass various rules and regs, it would be very difficult.
- Its an interesting idea
What do you think? Would you be willing to part with cash? Are you one of the people who would need to give up several hours every week to help set this up?
