Dragons' Look To Turner

Newport Gwent Dragons' look to have taken a more logical approach in appointing former Wales outside half Paul Turner as their new coach, in the wake of Chris Andersons' departure from the region.

TURNER FOR DRAGONS

Turner is very much an out and out Gwent man, having had distinguished spells with first Newbridge and then Newport, before heading North to sign professional terms with Sale, where he began his coaching career.

Since then he has built an extensive coaching repertoire, with stints at Bedford, Gloucester and Saracens

Currently at Harlequins under fellow Welshman Mark Evans, Turners' position as defence coach is said to be in doubt following Dean Richards' appointment at the club.

Today's' South Wales Echo report that he has seen the chance of returning to his native Gwent roots' simply too good to turn down. However such a move will have have repercussions for Dragons' assistant Leigh Jones, who may not be in Turners' plans at Rodney Parade.

Turners' appointment is set to confirmed sometime in the next week.
