13. W Greenwood (5) – Looked the out of form /perhaps the over the hill player that he is, was beaten by his opposite number a few times, however he will probably be a midweek fixture.

12. O Smith (6) – Few breaks but didn’t really impress, over this game and the Argentina game he hasn’t done well. He is only young so the tour will be great experience for him.

11. D Hickie (7) – Looked purposeful on the counter, the mid week side need him to keep his form.

10. C Hodgson (9) – Awesome all round display and he really needed it.

9. C Cusiter (7) – Played well despite a poor platform, the one mysterious pass marks him down.

8. M Owen (9) – Right back in test frame

7. L Moody (5) – Headless chicken again, he is a no6 and tries too hard when played at openside, its undermining his qualities as he is a good player.

6. M Corry (Capt) (7) – Solid game once again but you have to feel Owen has wrestled the upper hand.

5. D Grewcock (6) – Discipline Danny! It could really cost him a test place.

4. D O’Callaghan (6) – Unspectacular player who gave away too many penalties, he does give a hard edge with Grewcock though.

3. J Hayes (2) – Stuart Barnes said about the Naki loose head "He struggles with his scrumaging whenever he moves up to super 12 level" How many more times do we have to watch it? Has a lions player ever been sent home for being abysmal? Adam Jones must be kicking himself.

2. A Titterrell (5) – Scum is never his game so we can’t fault him there, didn’t do much round the park however and that we can criticise him for.

1. G Rowntree (6) Think he was brought down by the rest of the front row, needs to up his work rate.

Honourable mention:

Gethin Jenkins – Came on when the Lions front row was struggling, turned the corner in the scrum and did so much work, well done Melon.

Overall:

Good start for the Lions mid week side coached by Gareth "Gyppo" Jenkins, they have things to work on before the next game but if Hodgson can keep that kind of form then its good news,

Taranaki (Naki) put in a spirited performance and special mention goes to the flanker Chris Masoe who played some good stuff, it was physical and just what the dirt trackers needed.
