Volunteers will take a 20 foot “Walk of Fire” across burnt wood embers in front of the stand at Clifton Lane. A large crowd is anticipated on the evening for this exiting experience. Training will be given on the evening before the event and Rotherham prop Jamie Kilbane has already pledged to support Joe and take the walk. The only requirement that Volunteers need to meet to take part is to generate sponsorship for the charity – a minimum £150. If you want to take part in this special evening and feel you can raise £150 for the TITANS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, then contact either roth@sportnetwork.net or bedfordjoe@hotmail.co.uk for a registration form. If you don’t feel you can meet the challenge, but would still like to help anyway, you can sponsor Jamie Kilbane. You can either see Jamie himself around the club or you can send a cheque payable to Titans Community Foundation and send it to, Joe Bedford, Clifton Lane Sports Ground, 1 Badsley Moor Lane, Rotherham, S60 2SN. Thanks in advance for your support in this very worthwhile event.
Below you will find additional information, but if you have any further questions you can contact myself or Joe on the above details.
The TITANS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION is a Rotherham based charity working from Rotherham Rugby Clubs premises. The foundation has planned to work with more than 1300 young people a week in partnership with the Try Line Centre. One of the special features of the foundations work is the fact that more than 20 of the Earth Titans players are involved in delivering the programs to young people. We deliver a range of education programs as well as reading partner work and rugby coaching. We acknowledge the support of sponsors; however, we do need more funding to help us to help more people in Rotherham. We are often told that we are doing a good job, but we are striving to become even better.
Who is ‘in charge’ of the actual Fire walk? The company is called BLAZE. One of the major events they have introduced to the UK over the last 13 years is the Blaze Fire Walk Challenge. Professionalism and safety are their watchwords. Their safety record is impeccable. Their safety checks and procedures are second to none. Their team is the most experienced anywhere. And the fact they are most proud of is, that out of all the events they have facilitated and of all the people they have trained for events, not one refused the opportunity to fire walk when it was offered to them! A fact they hold to be a testament to their approach and professionalism. BLAZE, PO Box 6514, Nottingham, NG5 9SD Tel: 0115-9608 208 Email: info@blazefirewalking.com
