Bedford Blues finally got their first win of the season with this victory over Sedgley Park who have now lost all three matches. 

The home side were ahead on seven minutes when fly half Ben Patston put over a drop goal. James Pritchard made it 6-0 before crossing for the games opening try in the 36^th minute and with the conversion made it 13-0.

It was 20 -0 at half time after prop Ben Alexander went over in added time at the end of the half.

Two tries in the third quarter saw the home side go 34-0 up with flanker Sasha Harding and scrum half Alex Page crossing the Park try line, and Pritchard again on target with the conversions.

Park finally got on the scoreboard when fly half Phil Jones went over in the 68^th minute and added the conversion.

The Blues had the final say as Page completed a late double.

Pertemps Bees 20 (Tries: Qera (15), Cornwall (78). Cons: Higgins Petty. Pens: Higgins 2 (7, 24). 

Leeds Tykes 23 (Tries: McDonald (47), Lock (67). Cons: Hinton 2. Pens: Hinton 3 (2, 21, 32).

Excellent win for the Tykes in what could well have been a banana skin. Leigh Hinton gave the visitors the lead in the 2^nd minute with a penalty goal but Jon Higgins levelled in the 7^th minute.

Fijian flanker Akapusi Qera put the homeside ahead with a 15^th minute try and Higgins converted to make it 10-3. Hinton pulled three points back with a penalty goal on 21 minutes but three minutes later Higgins responded for the home side.

Before half time Hinton pulled three points back for the visitors as the Bees went in 13-9 ahead.

The Tykes were ahead seven minutes into the second half with prop Mike McDonald touching down and Hinton converting to make it 16-13.  

They went eight points clear when No 8 Mark Lock went in and Hinton again converted.

In the 77^th minute the home side were right back in it with second row Mark Cornwall going in for a try and replacement Rod Petty converted. 

Exeter Chiefs 13 (Try: Blythe (61). Con: Yapp. Pens: Yapp 2 (27, 72). 

Coventry 13 (Try: Dixon (5). Con: Russell. Pens: Russell 2 (18, 80).

Before a bumper crowd of 5234 Exeter kicked off rugby at Sandy Park with a 13 all draw against Coventry.

The visitors were 10-0 up at the end of the first quarter with right wing George Dixon touching down and Ben Russell converting and then adding a penalty goal.

Before half time the home side pulled three points back with a penalty goal. 

It took 21 minutes of the second half for the next score as hooker Sam Blythe went in for a try and Yapp converted to level it up.

In the 72^nd minute Yapp gave the home side the lead for the first time but Russell was to spoil the party at Sandy Park with a penalty goal three minutes into injury time leaving it as a draw.

London Welsh 13 (Try: Brownrigg (55). Con: Marks. Pens: Marks 2 (7, 16).  

Newbury 21 (Tries: Smaje (23), Roberts (39). Con: Walsh. Pens: Walsh 2 (53, 62). DG: Walsh (73). ).

Newbury pick up their first win of the season with this away success at London Welsh.

Tom Marks put the home side 6-0 ahead with a couple of penalties in the opening 16 minutes. 

Newbury scored the games opening try on the 23^rd minute with Dan Smaje, back in the starting line up, going over for a try. They went ahead on 39 minutes when full back Mal Roberts crossed the Welsh line and this time Tim Walsh converted and they led 12-6 at the break.

Walsh extended the lead 13 minutes into the second half with a penalty goal. Two minutes later and the Welsh were in for a try with second row Jim Brownrigg going over and Marks converting to make it a two point game.

Walsh slotted over a 62^nd minute penalty goal before sealing the win with a 73^rd minute drop goal.   

Plymouth Albion 14 (Try: Delaney (79). Pens: Neethling 3 (26, 62, 66). 

Doncaster Knights 13 (Try: Plevey (80). Con: Benson. Pens: Woodrow 2 (10, 59). 

Something had to give here and it was Doncaster’s 100% record, just. 

Doncaster went 3-0 ahead on 10 minutes when Mark Woodrow put over a 10^th minute penalty goal. Albion were level on 26 minutes when full back Wihan Neethling found the target with his second attempt of the afternoon.

It took 19 minutes for the opening score of the second half as the visitors went 6-3 up with Woodrow converting a penalty chance. Neethling then kicked the home side ahead with penalty goals on 62 and 66 minutes.

When replacement David Delaney went over for a 79^th minute try it left the visitors needing to score twice as Albion led 14-6.

Doncaster managed one score with replacement hooker Scott Plevey touching down and Jon Benson converting as Albion took the one point win.

Earth Titans 27 (Tries: Turnbull 2 (17, 35), Fourie (55), Smith (69). Cons: Steenson 2. Pen: Steenson (31).  

Otley 8 (Try: Edwards (42). Pen: Chivers (14). 

Earth Titans made it three out of three and top the National One league table at this early stage of the season.

Otley were first on the scoreboard in this Yorkshire derby with a penalty from debutante scrum half Neil Chivers but the lead lasted just three minutes before the Titans went over for the games opening try. It came from left wing Andrew Turnbull and fly half Gareth Steenson converted and increased the lead with a 31^st minute penalty goal.

With Turnbull getting a second try in the closing minutes of the half the home side went in 15-3 ahead.

In the second half full back Owen Edwards went over for Otley to pull five points back.

The home side got a third try on 55 minutes when flanker Hendrie Fourie went over and Steenson converted. They wrapped up the win and the four try bonus point when Shohan Smith went over in the 69^th minute.

Nottingham 63 (Tries: Logan 3 (24, 35, 74), Springall (38), Thompson (40), Molenaar (49), George (60), Jackson (68), Corcoran (80). Cons: Barlow 6. Pens: Barlow 2 (2, 29)

Waterloo 17 (Tries: Murchie (9), Lyon (78). Cons: Nutt 2. Pen: Nutt (22). 

Strange game this rugby as Waterloo suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of Nottingham looking for their win of the season and after Waterloo beat the Pirates last Saturday!!!

Tom Barlow kicked the home side in front with a 2^nd minute penalty goal but Waterloo were in front on nine minutes when full back Peter Murchie went over and Steve Nutt converted before making it 10-3 with a 22^nd minute penalty goal. Amazingly by half time the home side were 32-10 ahead with scoring four unanswered tries including a double form right wing Will Logan.

They ran in four more tries before the visitors managed another score with Logan going on to complete a hat trick in the 74^th minute to lead 58-10. Both sides score a try in the final minutes as Nottingham picked up their first win of the season and all five points on offer.  

Cornish Pirates 54 (Tries: 2 Di Bernardo (9, 79), Winnan (40), McAtee (47), McKeen (55), Vinnicombe (60). Cons: Di Bernardo 5. Pens: Di Bernardo 4 (15, 29, 58, 73) 

Moseley 16 (Try: Rodwell. Con: Thomas. Pens: Thomas 3 (6, 18, 38).

The Cornish Pirates got back to winning ways with this six try too one victory over Moseley including a 34 point haul from fly Alberto Di Bernardo.

The visitors went ahead through an Ollie Thomas penalty goal on the 6^th minute but their lead last just three minutes before DI Bernardo went over for the games opening try. and added a penalty to make it 8-3 on 15 minutes. Thomas, with two, and Di Bernardo, with one made it 11-9 with half time approaching but the home side managed a second try as full back Adrian Winnan went over and Di Bernardo converted for 18-9.    

Three tries in the third quarter finished the match off as the Pirates went into a 42-9 lead scoring 24 unanswered points.

The visitors did manage to cross the line with No 8 James Rodwell went over and Thomas converted.

Di Bernardo had the final saw with a penalty and a converted try in the final 10 minutes to round off the win.
