EARTH TITANS 'A' entertain Doncaster at Clifton Lane in their season's final home fixture on Saturday. Rotherham's traditional rivals hate losing to their more illustrious neighbours and Rotherham love putting one over them.
Titans 'A' have already beaten Doncaster at Castle Park earlier in the season but coach Craig West admits that form counts for nothing as both sides make multiple personnel changes between fixtures.
"It will be a tough game but the result will be difficult to predict because we use so many different players. We have used almost 70 different players this season but whoever plays will realise how important the game is because of the locality of the opposition," said West.
"We are taking a young side but I would imagine that Doncaster’s side will be of a similar age."
The A-team has produced impressive results since its re-formation last summer and West believes that a programme of competitive fixtures will further the potential of the squad next season.
"We need consistent quality fixtures but the league we entered this season has teams of varying strengths. We have had excellent games with Doncaster, Nottingham and Sedgley Park but other sides have struggled to commit to games," added West who has made cameo appearances for the side this season.
Sam Coy will start at tight head prop as Jamie Kilbane and Sam Walsh are selected for the first team.
Gareth Brear, Gareth Morley, Tom Outram and Tim Maslanyk are the only players in the squad with first team experience but backrow forwards Tristan Laga and James Waterhouse have impressed in recent weeks.
The game is expected to be fierce and competitive, both teams want to do well and the team turning up wanting to work most will finish on top.
A good crowd is expected with many from Rotherham expressing an interest in the game. Admission is free and the bar will be open; so everything is in place for an entertaining afternoon!
