The Bees have strengthened the squad further as they announce the singing of 30 year old Gavin Pfisher from Zurich Premiership new comers Worcester.

South African-born Gavin Pfister is the latest of Phil Maynards latest summer recruitments to strengthen the Bees squad for the 2004/05 season.

Born in Cape Town, the English-qualified South African was released by Worcester after spending two seasons at the club and helping the Midlands outfit gain promotion into the Zurich Premiership.

Earlier the back row turned down a move to Henley after wanting to stay closer to his business and home in Worcester.

The South African flanker told the local press

"The business has taken of in the last twelve months and that's a big pat of my my life now" .

"The Bees fit the bill perfectly. They are an ambitious club with a good squad of players. Its going to be a tough division this year because a number of clubs have full time squads and they have spent a lot of money develping those squads."

"But I have been impressed with what I have seen at the Bees and I think we have a squad that can, at least, become the best part-time club in the county"

Bees director of rugby, Phil Maynad feels the prolific try scorer will help and quality and competition to this years squad.

"Gavin has been training with us for three weeks on a no-obligation basis. He's strong and powerful and he will add strength and competition to our squad. When the top try-scoring forward in his division becomes available you would be foolish not to sign him. "

The South African was born on 26 January 1974 in Cape Town. He stated playing rugby at the age of six and was selected at the top levels of the sport through to being selected in the Western Province Under 19's. He has played in South African and Australia before moving to England to play for London Irish and Worcester.
