Maynard is fully aware and warned his players of a backlash after last seasons success in the cup where they reached the semi-final after beating London Wasps.

“As we reached the last four last season there is obviously an expectation tat we will do it all over again and people will want to knock us off that perch. We have got to live and cope with that” Maynard told the press.”

“We’ve already beaten Orrell in the league but cup rugby is something else completely. They gave us a hell of a game at their place in the league and I’m expecting another cracker”

Coventry or Penzance/Newlynn will be the next stop for the winners of this Saturdays game which will be played on 27^th November - and Maynard has made it no secrete that he is hoping that it will be Coventry he plays if we get through.

“Id much rather play Coventry in the next round because it would mean plenty of local interest and a short hip across the A45 for us” he said.

“We certainly don’t want to have to go to Penzance. One trip down there a season is enough and, as a part time side with players who have to work on a Monday, we would want to avoid another Sunday fixture at all costs”.
