Prop Emyr Lewis has joined Pertemps Bees' growing injury list.
The Gloucester Academy product popped a rib cartilage during last Saturday's National One defeat by Nottingham, his first league start for the club, and he will now be sidelined for up to three weeks.
Lewis, who was promoted from the replacements' bench when Martin O'Keefe was stuck in a traffic jam on the M6 motorway, has joined winger Nick Baxter (thigh muscle) and back-row forwards Jim Jenner and Nathan Carter, who are both struggling to overcome neck injuries, on the injured list.
O'Keefe will return for the league game against Bedford Blues at Goldington Road on Saturday November 20 and Pertemps Bees also hope to welcome back prop Matt Long after two weeks out with serious facial injuries which he sustained in the defeat at Rotherham on October 30.
O'Keefe's absence last Saturday forced Pertemps Bees to bring former England prop Mark Linnett out of retirement. Linnett, who retired from senior rugby in April 2001 after spells with Rugby, Moseley, Worcester and Pertemps Bees, was named as a replacement and he played the final quarter against Nottingham when Lewis was injured. Linnett was registered last November as emergency cover and the 41-year-old has remained on the club's roster of players.
