Warrington Wolves v St. Helens

Warrington Wolves face local rivals St. Helens in the LIVE Sky Sports match on Friday. The Wolves go into the clash on the back of a thrilling 46-24 victory over Hull, whilst St. Helens are on a roll following 3 straight victories in 2006 against Harlequins RL, Castleford Tigers and last weekends 13-4 success over championship rivals Leeds Rhinos.

In 2005, Warrington failed to beat St. Helens in 3 attempts but many Wolves fans will never forget what happened on the 4th March 2005. The Wolves were heading for a shock 16-14 home victory over the Saints, only for Kerion Cunningham to collect a huge bomb on the Warrington line and barge his way over to put the Saints in the lead and on there way to the two league points.

Kerion Cunningham's stunning try was on the 79th minute and 59th second of the game, and left the 11,000 home fans gob smacked at what they had witnessed.

Exactly 12 months later, the two sides will meet again, and Warrington want revenge!

Warrington and St. Helens matches are always entertaining and more often then not an average of 50+ points is scored during the game.      St. Helens do hold the upper hand in terms of the most victories in the Super League era, but that will count for nothing come 8pm on Friday.

Another huge crowd is expected at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, and fans are advised to get tickets in advance of the match in order to guarantee entry. Only 1,000 tickets remain on sale at the club shop for the North, East and South stands. However, home fans will be allowed access to the West stand, which is where the St. Helens fans will be allocated. Over 2,500 St. Helens fans are expected to make the short trip across, so a full house is on the cards for the Wolves.

Warrington Wolves welcome back Logan Swann, Rob Parker and Andy Bracek to the squad for the Saints clash, and will go in the 20 man squad which will be drafted won to 17 on Wednesday.

St. Helens will be without former Wolf Nick Fozzard who is expected to be out for a further 6-8 weeks. Captain Paul Sculthorpe could be a mojor doubt for the Saints as he has been cited for a challange on Leeds forward Ryan Bailey last weekend, and if a ban is given he will miss the Wolves game.

One thing is for sure, it will be one hell of a game!
