Big Bob does the double by adding a review of the Bath match to add to bhis preview. Q - if so many tribe members are happy to start threads about games why is it so hard to find pre abd reviewers?
An evening marred by some poor decisions.
The first poor decision of the evening was made by me when I arrived at the start of the England match, to find the members bar packed (nice bit of extra bar takings for the club).
It was unfortunate that after giving away one penalty in the first half which did not result in a score against us, one of our players (no names no pack drill) gave away a second very soon after which did. Unless the ref got it wrong, it the offence was unnecessary. I am not naming names because I am not saying that it was this player’s fault that we lost – we gave away three penalties.
With Bath putting on several fresh pairs of legs in the second half what use was it putting on Nemani for three minutes?
After having watched Jason Shoemark being taken out when chasing his kick ( I have rewatched it several times on the computer) and as this was seen by Mr Rose this too was not a great decision in my opinion. I agree with those posters who have commented that the ref and those running the line did not have the best of evenings. At another point in the second half Jason was taken out off the ball and he gestured to the linesman who did nothing (I did attend the evening with the Pearce’s recently and know that those running the line can’t do that much! and this was graphically demonstrated!).
Overall Bath shaded in for me, at times with skill and at other times by being “street wise”.
There were many positives:
Rob and co will have a lot to think about this week prior to Northampton’s visit. With five league losses on the bounce they will be desperate to leave Sandy Park with a win but I will leave that discussion to next week’s reviewer – it could be you!
