The Tribe will be out to enjoy their first trip to London Irish and the Paddy's Day party but Exeter Chiefs will be aiming to put a dent into the celebrations by gaining revenge for the close defeat at Sandy Park.

The St Paddy’s day extravaganza

Well it seems ages since we last saw any live club rugby, and even longer since I last wrote a report. But here we are with our first visit to the Madejski Stadium in front of us. Since we last watched the Chiefs play there has been a small amount of International rugby to ‘entertain’ us!! Well there was France being beaten for the first time by Italy, the try that shouldn’t have been but was in Cardiff, and then there’s England, well what happened to the non-Grand Slam?

So what can we look forward to in the extended suburbs of London, well it’s the Traditional St Paddy’s day game at London Irish, alright so it’s almost 2 weeks late, but the Irish know how to extend a celebration. Apparently it’s an extravaganza of dressing up, singing and dancing, interspersed with a few alcoholic beverages and a dose of good quality Premiership rugby (hopefully). The events start at 11:00am and carry on into the night, with the emphasis on community fun, oh and drinking. Midway through the proceedings, the stadium will be crammed to the rafters, seeing one of LI’s biggest crowds of the season at the Majedski, watch what promises to be a very entertaining game of rugby.

The Chiefs were annoyed that they did not come out of the home tie with 4 points, having lost by 9 points to 12, and so will be looking to avenge that score line, they will also be hoping that the Leeds/Sale result the previous day will mean that a win in Reading will secure Premiership survival with 5 games still to play for, it would also see them leapfrog LI into at least 8th position in the Premiership, with the Exiles having played one more game.

However, one thing’s for sure, the Exiles will not be ready to roll over for us, they went through a barren patch just after beating us, then Sale the following week, by then losing the next 11 games in all competitions. Since then they have started to pull themselves together, winning the last 4 home games, but equally losing the away games in between, with the most notable being their last game which saw them lose at Leeds, without picking up a bonus point. They will not want a repeat of that, especially at home to the new boys.

With the size of the Exiles crowd on Saturday, and their drumming contingent, it may well be hard for the Tribe to make ourselves heard, so the more of us there are there, the better chance we have, so don’t sit around, get behind your team, dust off your feathers, put on your war paint and join our raiding party on its first trip to the Majedski. There are many already in the scouting party, making our way up on Friday and setting up camp around the city.

Prediction for the day:

A good time was had by all, many pints will be downed, the tribe will be very hoarse and the Chiefs will come away with their second away scalp of the season, having secured another season in the AV with a very close 4 pointer!!

By the way, there’s one thing I want to tell the boys, next season you’d better qualify for the knockout stages of the LV cup because I cannot stand these free weeks.

I think this could be our 3rd away scalp, if we win, Sarries and Falcons being the other two.

Good preview though and I'm really looking forward to this one.

Am pretty sure our boys won't be party to a rout (either way!). Should be a cracking away trip/raiding party - with the break that we've had, not sure how much recent form will carry over? Time for Budge to give new England cap Corbisiero a lesson in scrummaging (I hope!)

Great preview, I think that we have all been looking forward to this fixture since meeting the Irish's fans back in October. Can't wait to jump on the train Saturday morning! In the 3 guineas for 11 and ready to party! We aim to win but spoil the party?........ never!

We'll be there to enjoy the party, many making a weekend of it. The rugby will just be the icing on the cake. See you all there, we'll be easy to recognise, we'll be the ones with a drink in our hands, oh and making the odd:

Oggy! Oggy! OGGY!.

A shy and retiring bunch!
