I'm most pleased to see Becconsall used as a 9 which is, I understand, his preferred position. It speaks volumes for his skill levels when he has played in other backs positions. With Maunders and Stu injured he may be called upon for the Prem.

Firstly, well done to Glos for fielding so many academy players. I’m sure they will put up a great fight for a fantastic club. As will our boys. I expect a high scoring game.

We have a pretty strong side out the back three and centres look good and the forward pack has some seasoned players. The bench also looks strong. Glaws have a number of inexperienced players in their side so I am going for a Chiefs win 40 - 17.

Their hands were tied on this one slightly as they have a Premiership game against Saints on Saturday so i expect they are pretty thin on the ground!

At least unlike us they haven’t got to travel the length on England. Like our Wasps they have benefitted from Wuss intake.

All credit to Glaws for fielding so many academy players. Perhaps they don't have too much choice. We have several there who should be showing in the first team IMHO, so it'll be good to see them out again - particularly Hendrickson, but also Cordero and Grondona.

Yes, it was a fantastic performance. Despite the cold, passing was a joy to watch, and the pace driven hard by a great Becconsall performance at 9. So much pace everywhere and there seemed a clear understanding of where each other should be. Electric! Yes, there were errors, but a truly entertaining match. The first team could learn a thing or two!

What a wonderful advert for this competition two largely youthful teams going out with the mindset of playing fast attacking rugby with very little turgid box kicking. Both teams looked capable of scoring off first or second phases with every effort to involve all the back line. Key to creating the space was getting to and releasing the ball from breakdowns so quickly, also nearly all scrums were completed without resets what a difference that makes.
Well done to all the 23 each contributed to a great spectacle. Jenkins kicking very impressively reminds me of Steenson at his best. Nice to get a semi final a great boost for the club after receiving a never ending barrage of negative comments from so many sources of late.

OK, it was a really entertaining game to watch, BUT, before people get too carried away, the scoreline tells a big story, in attack both teams looked good, why, because the defence at times was non existent, I would also say that was probably the worst Gloucester team and performance I have ever seen, at any level. Its his first game at 9, so I wont knock his performance too much, but it was what I would expect to see in a bucs game, nothing more. Our 10 is a really good kicker but other than that, you wouldnt have known he was on the pitch, Kata did well and it was great to see Hendo get some minutes under his belt. It was what it was, an entertaining A league type Cup match, a million miles away from what you would see in the Prem. A good win for the Club though.

Not sure I’ve ever read a more disrespectful post regarding an Exeter player our young no 10. He was near faultless kicking out of hand and off the tee. He was first receiver for most of the 9’s passes talking with the 9 to decide our plan of attack and I think all his passes went to hand. If that is anonymous then the writer was not watching the same game as me, incredibly negative post.

Like I said, he is a really good kicker, but I'm also a realist not a dreamer and that was a very poor Gloucester performance, they offered no competition at the breakdown, we had so much time it was crazy, we kicked at times when we were dominating and going forward with ease, just gifting them possession and the chance to clear their lines. It may appear harsh, but this isn't a Bucs game, its professional rugby, yes there were plus points but also a lot of lessons to be learnt.

Wow, ChiefUther, you seem to be making a habit of attacking posters on this forum ! I was not disrespectful, just stating an opinion based on fact, one that almost all of my Chiefs friends agreed with after the game. We were good, it was a very entertaining game to watch, but Gloucester were very poor, which helped make us look good. At no time did I say any player was rubbish so I would appreciate it if you wouldn't put words in my mouth !

I too think you were a bit disrespectful to a couple of the young guns on display today. If people attack your pet nine you are quick to defend him, so i will do the same for them ,and like Andy says i hope these young players dont follow these boards as your comments are extremely negative in what was a good entertaining game.
They all had faults out there but over all young Becconsall and Jenkins did very well.
Quit the negativity and get behind the youngsters as they are very much our future!

What a hugely enjoyable game to watch; attack dominated and both teams will give their defence coaches a headache; but wonderful to see a game not blighted by water carriers, players wasting time with endless lineout discussions or taking the knee. Only 1 quick scrum reset the whole match and no baiting ranting at the ref. Only 9.000 at Sandy Park which considering the offer was a pity. You can only play what is in front of you and I thought 9 and 10 and Kata were excellent. Beaconsall's kicking was poor but his speed and length of pass until he tired were excellent and I thought Jenkins was excellent not only with his place kicking but releasing his backs. Good to see Grondona and Hendo getting back and I thought Innard and Frost played well as was Tuima. Lots of promise, defence a work on but hopefully a look at some future stars. Came back buzzing having enjoyed the game - rugby a big winner.

England match in the big sport so attendance as expected.
As for the game superb passing, nine quick decisive and mixed up play, got to the ball and with Jenkins worked well.
Kata now internationals are out the way needs to start, many positives from this game.
Yes we leaked silly points but more time together that would improve, and you can only play who is in front of you.
I know these weren’t top line prem players but so good to see our nine getting there when needed, he may not get the time to think in a league game but I hope he gets the chance.

BA, I really can't work out your agenda, but it seems I'm not alone in being disappointed at some of your comments. It's a shame you can't see the positivity that was so evident to so many. I support an open discussion, and have applauded some of your comments in the past, but really find these hard to swallow. I'm sorry you can't see the opportunity we have too.

I didnt watch the match sadly, but in BAs defence, it was clearly a weak Gloucester team.

Nevertheless I am fairly certain that several names on our teamsheet will be successful first team players in seasons to come.

Only 9.000 at Sandy Park which considering the offer was a pity.

Looking at all 4 stands, that attendance must have included non attending STH and tickets that had been allocated but not used. No way there was that many in there. You could see every barrier in both of the terraces, and a lot of blue in both seated stands. Hopefully a good amount was raised for MND.

The game itself was entertaining. Defence was seemingly optional but sometimes that's OK. A win gets us through and we had an entertaining game to watch, not something that's happened too much of late.
