Bath Rugby have won just once since mid-November, beating Newcastle 24-16 at the Recreation Ground on New Year's Eve. Bath’s two other victories at the Rec this season were against Northampton in Round 7 and Leicester in Round 10.

Exeter Chiefs have lost just one of their last five Gallagher Premiership Rugby fixtures: 5-40 to Harlequins in the Big Game at Twickenham on 4 March. The Chiefs have lost their last five away games in Premiership Rugby since beating Bristol at Ashton Gate on 7 October.

Exeter’s only defeat to Bath in any competition since October 2016 was 10-13 at the Rec in Premiership Rugby in October 2019. The Chiefs have won on five of their last six visits to Bath in Premiership Rugby.

Against a team low on confidence with a very poor disciplinary record, but at home with a full house. The weather doesn’t look great. Good to see Slade included and Alec and Ollie on the bench. Reckon it will be tight but we will shade it 29 - 24.

I think our set piece will come under severe pressure given our missing ‘heavies’ and that the Bath coach is so forward focused it could be a dour kicking contest especially with the potential for rain. Cannot understand how Gray not even in the 23 if not injured especially a game we have to win as he is our best line out operator. Despite Bath’s lowly position I have a bad feeling about this one given our atrocious away record this season. Bath 38 chiefs 21. Hopefully I am totally wrong.

I would be more confident if I thought our tactics would change and the 9 and 10 who are on the bench were starting. They have a good scrum and I fear for our usual lineout wobbles. It is a must win game for us if the players are thinking of a top four finish so heart rules head Chiefs 30 Bath 26; but lots of doubts.

I'd like to be confident about this, but every time so far this season I've felt reasonably confident we seem to have lost.

I think it could be a three point game.

This is a 'must win' for us and a 'would be great to beat them buy hey..' for them. We always miss Gray but Dunne is growing into being a Chief and having more impact every game. I also think that Bath have great individuals. They can stay that way for another game. The result will quite possibly decided by a man with a whistle (hope not). Simmonds and Devoto to come on to close the game out for Chiefs.
Bath 22 Chiefs 31 because we just have to..

Plenty of pessimism on the board, but that is a good team, If Sam steps up which he has in the past and Jack continues to improve we should win.
Pack not the heaviest but no shortage of ability and we have leaders there, with Slade we should be able to use our ball well.
Chiefs to win by ten, but the pessimism is founded, which chiefs will turn up.

It is a decent squad but we look very lightweight in the second row imo.
I like Daf but with a heavy tractor lock he would be better. Imo he has loads of good attributes but I feel like he needs to bulk up a bit to make the next step up.
Personally I would prefer Joe at fly half but understand why he isn't playing. We will play all the other leavers though as first choice if available.
Hmmmmmmm 🤔
I am most worried about the Bath maul to be honest so I hope Daf and ChrisT can put some pressure on the Bath throwing.
Travelling in hope more than expectation and my main hope is that we have a dry afternoon 🤞🤞

I think Christ T is the one who really needs a bit more bulk. He has fabulous skills but pretty much 2/3 of his height and probably weight is in his legs.

The first time I saw him sat down in hospitality I couldn't believe that it was him as he was too short. Then he stood up...

I can understand why he isnt playing in the row.

I’m on. A knife edge with this prediction…. J in actually have faith in the look of our team (shame Jacques injured agajn but great to see Ollie and Alec in the bench)…. But something in my bones suggesting that a dangerous Bath team will finally click…. Hope I’m very wrong but Bath 23 chiefs 19

I have a bad feeling about this one! Bath improved with the addition of the wuss players, then went backwards when they were injured/called up.
To me their side looks strong and well balanced, at one point they will play like they should! That coupled with our set piece woes, and awful away form mean I think we'll lose this one. Bath 26 Chiefs 14

Agree with a lot of the above comments regarding our away form, lightweightish pack, set piece woes and Bath's potential to click, however the fact that we need to win to stay in the top 4 chase will hopefully give us the edge over a team who have nothing to gain but therefore could be dangerous.
Chiefs to win by 9. but what do I know.

Bath 29 Chiefs 17.

We've a good side out but poor away form. A bit more pace in their back division that ours, especially on the wings, so they should have an advantage. Pray for rain!

Our back 5 of the scrum isn't that light weight. Second rows 18 stone and 2 flankers over 17 stone ( Ewers 19 stone plus). How big do they need to be.

Never seemed at the races today. Very underpowered in the pack. The penalty count was ridiculous. Dixon is a ref who tends to make his mind up early and just pings one side mercilessly. But some of the pens were brainless. Exeter seemed clueless at 9 and 10 and really lack any damaging pace. A big overhaul is coming and is clearly needed.

My feelings exactly.

By how many would we lose to Saracens at present, 50, 60 or 70 if they played for the 80 minutes as they played yesterday?

That was grim viewing.

Take out tge penalties and we may have had a chance.

I gree with various opinions recently expressed that it will take until 1924/25 for the rrbuikd to come good.

Hi NM, Last year was not a good year for us and our performances away against Harlequins and Bath were pretty abject as bad as any in the last two years. WE have not started to rebuild yet given how many players are leaving and the selections and tactics we have been following. You may be over optimistic with that prediction. Our coaches have yet to convince us and perhaps some players that they have the vision and skill needed to effect a big change - they seem pretty inflexible. I hope you are right.

Thoughts on Rob’s post match interview with Nick Mullins?
‘ almost seemed like the players wilfully went against all we’d talked about in the week’
Wow! Maybe I’ve read too much into it. Either that or the wheels are well and truly off.
Is there relegation next year? My mate wants to know.....

When Rob says 'we'd' who does he mean? I was under the impression that Ali was now head coach and Rob wasn't doing much if any on field coaching?
Is Rob doing some coaching again now??
Whatever, if he is saying the players went against orders then it is clear they don't believe what they are being told/asked to do any longer.
If true and the coaching or tactics don't change then we could be travelling a very rocky road indeed.
It all seems pretty toxic at the moment for the coaches to call the players out like this.
Antonio Conte comes to mind
