It wasn't so much a case of a perfect ten, but more appropriately a perfect four, as the quartet of Irish provinces all recorded highly encouraging victories in the third round of pool matches in this season's Heineken Cup. Pride of place must undoubtedly be allocated to Connacht who travelled to France, where they were expected to lose in Toulouse, but the apparent minnows had other ideas and promptly emerged from their French incursion with a remarkable triumph.
The other three clubs also racked up bonus points and tries galore to ensure a hugely successful weekend for the Oirish. Leinster led by a staggering 26-0 at the interval away to mighty Northampton while Munster and Ulster put their visitors to the sword, each leading twenty-two points to nil at the halfway stage. If only they could translate such form into the ensuing Six Nations tournament! Here are the lovely scores for y'all to drool over!
Toulouse 14 CONNACHT 16
[TRY: Marmion]
Northampton 7 LEINSTER 40
[TRIES: Fitzgerald(3), Heaslip, Reddan, and O'Driscoll]
MUNSTER 36 Perpignan 8

ULSTER 48 Treviso 0
