Another Clean Sweep

Yet again, Ireland's four provinces scored four wins out of four in the penultimate round of Heineken Cup pool matches. I am probably sounding like a proverbial broken record but it would be rather splendid to see our club form translated onto the international stage - in the imminent Six Nations tournament.

Anyhow, a standing ovation is allocated to Munster and Ulster for already qualifying for the last eight, with one match to spare. For the latter, the north's honorary Ulsterman Ruan Pienaar weighed in with a customary contribution of seventeen vital points. Leinster now also have one foot in the quarter-finals, courtesy of a comeback performance, inspired by 21 points from Kiwi fly-half Jimmy Gopperth. Last and definitely not least is the team from the west coast. Connacht are in with a fighting chance of progressing to the knock-out stage, which is a huge step forward for them. Here follows the lovely scores for y'all.

Castres 22 LEINSTER 29

[Try-scorers: Gopperth(2), Murphy]

CONNACHT 20 Zebre 3

[Try-scorers: Healy, Henshaw]

Gloucester 7 MUNSTER 20

[Try-scorers: Earls, O'Mahony]

ULSTER 27 Montpellier 16

[Try-scorers: Diack, Pienaar, Afoa]
