The second game of our Cup, then League double header, ended in a predictable 38-5 romp by the Kens. Main point of interest was Oscar Haynes hat trick from Scrum Half after the break.

Kenilworth had the early dominance from the kick off and rumbled forward against Southam. Near the line Matt Slater peeled off and scored a try near the posts. 5 Nil. Harv converted 7 nil. 3 Mins.

Southam then lifted their game and put Kenilworth under quite a bit of pressure over the next 10 mins. Penalties quickly taken, (reminiscent of the Home Southam game), meant that they found themselves only yards out from the Kens line, where they mauled over to score, no conversion 7-5. 15 mins

Another period of equal play ensued, ended by a try from Harvey playing scum half, darting over to score, probably with the kick in mind near the posts. Duly converted 14-5. 20 mins.

Kenilworth ended the half back much more at their best. A great backs move that went all the way down the line, popped out of contact to the winger Callum Martin was returned from contact to Bailey, who again off loaded the ball on to Olly Jones Hooker, who finished from 12 yards out. Superb rugby, best try of the day 19-5 Harv converted.

21-5   24 mins.

After Half Time the team was re jigged. The Coaches in the first half favouring players who had had less game time in recent matches. It was noticeable that Southam were fielding a weaker team this week, after the Cup Game the previous week, when some players were noticeable, not by their affiliation to Southam but to other places.

The main news to report in the second half was the first hat trick of the season for Oscar Haynes, who had moved to scrum half, and found openings aplenty. Scoring after 8 mins and 21 mins. Taking the score to 33-5 after 21 mins second half.

The scoring ended after 27 mins when Matt Slater made a great break from the Kens 22 and off loaded to Oscar, who with much left to do, who ran in from 30 m out. 38-5 no conversion

Match ends.
