...and secure Midlands Two future.
A determined and at times scintillating performance saw Nuneaton Old Edwardians secure their Midlands Two status with a decisive 31-26 home win over Spartans.
Eds took an early 14-0 lead through a brace of tries from centre Ashley Kalnins, both improved by fly-half Tom Short.
Then Spartans made good use of a trailing wind and a heavier pack to hit back with three tries, two converted and at half-time led 19-14.
After the turnaround Eds were much the better side and tries from centre Alex Cape – a brilliant pick-up off his toes and dash under the posts – and another from Short, both of which he converted, saw Eds comfortably ahead. He added a penalty for good measure to give Eds a 31-19 lead.
Spartans came back with a converted try at the very end but this was a day to savour for a joyful Weddington Road side and their whooping supporters.
