Ageing well so far.... Typical 'on free-to-air TV' performance from us so far.

Hmmm 10-0 at half time after that performance is pro w my a good day result I think - every part of our game has been quite frankly shocking! But we arenât out of it and got a strong bench to bring on in the second half and playing down hill.
The LRZ love in is pretty galling on BT Sport too, no comment on head contact to Naiyavoro to get him into touch at the end of the half there?

Once the tackle is complete the player on the floor canât then be pushed or pulled into touch
Clear penalty IMHO

Apparently tackling the head is okay if you make it into a choke tackle

Has Tempest ever reffâd a good game of rugby. He is an appalling ref

Iâm sorry but heads need to roll for this shambles. This is not remotely what youâd expect from professionals in any job. This is garbage.

You cant blame the ref for our poor performance, I know that the lads always give their beat but today their vest is just not good enough.

You can blame the ref for his poor performance though.

I could point to a couple of 50/50 calls you could argue he got wrong but not sure why heâs getting so much abuse.

Where is the fight to achieve top four!!!!! What a missed opportunity!
An absolutely disgraceful performance 1 to 23!!

Dreadful performance but heads needing to roll? You said that when we were 11th, youâre saying it when we are 5th? Let me
guess, if we didnât win the Prem next year then sack everyone?
Who are you suggesting is fired, who is being recruited to replace them and whose money are you going to use to enact it ?

I literally think that they have to draw a line in the sand with that. Nothing functioned. Just call it poor and move on. The players know already youâd like to think.

Really disappointing to think we can get the mindset so wrong. From the first minute the tone was set. Who takes responsibility for mindset I wonder? Who are the leaders?
I really hope we fix this with recruitment. It just happens too regularly!

Move on to our lives, mate. It's a game, we lost and were terrible today, but there's more important things in life than being permanently angry cos' of a game (or at least there should be).

Totally agree. We need to give them credit for their commitment and execution.
There can be debatable decisions at scrums and rucks but what went wrong with the lineout?
The important thing is to demonstrate next week that this was an aberration.

We also have a young squad that will only strengthen.
We cannot buy - as the Cobblers tried - but we can develop. As Boyd is proving.
But as I said in an older thread, we are growing, and maybe next year will be too soon. But 22-23 we should expect solid performances. With no brain f*rts!

Yes it was a poor loss but the first in a long while so your reaction is well over the top. If you really want to be miserable, maybe you should support Worcester?

Spot on. A relative neutral who was watching the game said to me that the ref wasn't very good but that applied to both teams.

The club has always had a soft underbelly, does it come from the fans accepting too much mediocrity? The board? Dunno

Theyâve both had a bad period but you know theyâll come back and win stuff again. Theyâre winners.

There are some very unnecessarily nasty comments in this thread.
I have to say that since the Saints stopped their own message board, that a site that was once civil, friendly, community spirited (Saints with Hearts) etc has become an imposter to what was originally created.
All through the coverage of the match, there was a graphic on every replay wipe effectively saying end online hate but some just canât help themselves... that message well and truly falling on deaf ears.
I feel desperately sorry for the editors as running this site must be extremely time consuming.... they must wonder why they bother.
I could say that âyou know who you areâ but I genuinely think the regular culprits are unaware that their insistence on telling everyone what we should all be thinking, is actually drying up honest debate because of the nasty vitriol that is bound to follow should anyone disagree.
Right, so Iâve pinned a target on my back, letâs see who the first is to have a go! I know who my money is on.

It happened several times when we had Dylan, towards the end of Jim's reign. Those Saracens spankings? Leinster demolishing us at FG?
We as a club, tend to have these issues where we're just so flat in performance. I think S&C are also responsible for this.

I think you have a point re S & C. We have not been as strong in this area since The Hood was in charge. Although if I recall correctly he went to Worcesters so S & C on its own is clearly not enough.

The mentality of the fans is interesting. A good few years ago now I was at the match where we got relegated and a friend of mine had his brother down for the weekend, he was Hull league fan.
At the end of the game people stood around and applauded the team that had been relegated, his response could not be posted on here but basically it was the response would not have been the same in Hull.
We still have many on here who will defend all sorts of poor performance and will defend virtually any rubbish and jump on anyone who dares to question anything.
Is that the biggest problem at the club, almost certainly not, does it contribute, who knows?

100% agree with this post. When you have the likes of St Krige defending yesterdayâs performance, when even Boyd said it was totally unacceptable, what expectation is there on the players!! Mediocrity is acceptable for too many supporters who have very little ambition!!

I donât know St Krige but if I met him outside of this forum I would probably buy him a beer and talk Saints for hours. That applies to everyone who is part of this community
OK Tommysaint can be an annoying pain in the backside but I would think a few hours in his company would be very enjoyable
Canât we just accept that sometimes people have different opinions and respect that without unnecessary attacks on individuals

The mentality of supporters should have no effect on a team. Every team Iâve played for, Iâve wanted to win for me and my brothers on the pitch. In my opinion nothing else should come into it, thatâs what rugby is about. Every game you should go out and want to smash your opponents, I even remember going through an entire season without a win, that attitude never changed, we were just @#$%& as a team
Quote:Saint Ted
I think itâs two separate things Ajack.
Supporters point of view shouldnât in my opinion effect your attitude to a game, the attitude towards a match shouldnât change if your playing for the Lions, England, Saints or Old Fartonians 3rds. However playing in front of a crowd will help during a match, having 13,000 referees is always handy.
Your post about relegation is an interesting one. Got to admit, I clapped at the end of the match, but I think that was more of a show of solidarity and a show we were behind the team going forward more than anything else, we knew changes were being made and a new era was starting.

To be fair I agree with some of what you say here and there have been some really good contributors who no longer post/visit but the fact is when the rabble moved here from the saints official forum (myself included) they found a place where even a mild criticism of the team/ coaches was pounced on as heresy. Also there was a certain ex player's brother who was constantly telling people what they should be thinking and woe betide anyone that disagreed with him.

Think he's with Cov now. We certainly do seem quite a bit smaller/lightweight than most other sides, but it's more we have these games where we just look completely flat...perhaps not enough or too much S&C in the week? Either way we looked unprepared.

I donât recognise the message board you describe Iâm afraid. I remember a board where collectively they raised tens of thousands of pounds for the BHF, organised picnics before matches, and quite often met up in Heroes before a match for a pint. I agree that Robby had some strong points, but he knew how to put them across without insulting everyone who disagreed. Beside, before the rise of (anti) social media, having a brother of a player being able to give inside info was very informative.
I wonder why the club stopped their own forum? From my own recollection it was because of the unnecessary hostility and nastiness that proved too hard to police. In my opinion, the migration of those posters onto this platform has just meant that those people who I enjoyed talking rugby with have moved on because that unpleasantness just moved to here instead.
Every thread is dominated by the same posters, constantly trying to âcorrectâ anyone elseâs position and point of view. You just have to go through this thread and see the personal put downs aimed at various people. I wouldnât even say they are a bunch of Keyboard Cowards, just obnoxious individuals who think they are permanently right.

Dear TommySaint,
I'm sure you are more than able to re-read some of the content in this thread and find instances of when the discussions between posters (often between people who don't actually know each other personally) falls below the standards that most would describe as normal for conversations between adults.
I'm dreadfully sorry that I am of such an old age that I can't lower my ideals to where rudeness can be simply described as "robust interaction". Is that the modern way of saying impolite? It's a sad day when nastiness and discourteousness is encouraged to be the 'normal' way that we should all speak to one another.
In a previous post, you denigrated the closeness of previous editors to the former Saints' Communications Director, Chris Wearmouth. You may well be unaware that Chris was a regular poster on COYS and friend to many of the people who frequented the site long before he became the Communications Director.
You described COYS as a small group of people who liked to meet for ale, who built a small community with some nice witty content and communal stuff. Yep.... guilty 100% Unfortunately, the actions of newer posters (acting) in an obnoxious manner (you are correct, I have no idea if people are or are not obnoxious - my mistake) has destroyed that community.
I for one, miss that immensely and that's not just some old codger reminiscing about the good old days.... what's not to dislike about a bunch of like minded people enjoying chatting with each other during the week online, meeting up at the match and in the process, making a massive contribution to the local community by raising tens, if not over a hundred thousand pounds for the BHF after several members suffered heart attacks?
Actually, that's worth more than a couple of lines...... the walks in aid of the BHF were not only supported by the Saints, with members of the Barwell family taking part and players from the squad joining in as well, but ALL the other clubs supplied signed playing shirts to be auctioned across all of the connected rugby sites to help raise money. The instigators, Chris G, Rich, Paul Flatt and so many others that deserve to be listed, did something that was utterly amazing and did such a good deed in keeping with the heritage of the Saints club as being a massive part of the community. These days, it's just hard to keep a thread civil between contributors.
By the way.... I'm not sure if someone in their 40's is actually an old codger etc.... I just know that in my professional interactions, if I engaged with others in the manner that some do on here, then my company would suddenly lose all of its clients rather quickly.
It's little wonder why so many of the original posters no longer post on here.
