Good team. Any one know anything about the new winger? Good to see tiny the 2nd on the bench
As I just posted on the Tigers site, 2 decent mixed sides, interesting to me is 4 Saints and 7 Tigers have all played at the Lions in National 1, be good to see how they go.
Interesting squad looking forward to seeing how most go and in the spirit of the tournament, tigers centres will take some managing. Names missing are intriguing namely, Nonleh, Prowse, G Smith, Logan, Garside, Cousins and Glister. Will await Bedfords team but hope to see these also rotate and come in for appearances during the rest of the prem cup.
looks like Mitieli Vulikijapani ha s played 7s for Saracens when Saints used to host the seven a side tournament.
He had an ACL injury at the end of 23 then start of 24.
Played for Hull Rugby league so perhaps knows Radders and Radders him. Looks quick and strong.

Saints have 15/23 who have played Premiership this season, and Spencer and Haffar with good previous experiences, vs 11/23 for Tigers.

Tiny junior at 18 seems to be joining the line of young english tight heads
Presumably there are rules that prevent players representing two teams - so anyone appearing for Blues won't be able to play for Saints later in the competition and vice versa

Its crazy I look at that team and it's a very handy team I see pollock at 19 years of age as the big stand out player along with Hendy.

Tigers team is even less experienced than Saints, only 11 of the 23 have ever been in Premiership squad, and several are junior loanees.

I think it depends on the cost. He's prob come in cheap plus could still have 3 good years left in him if he works out. Looks like he has potential. Quick and a big guy. Down as heavier than tommy Freeman.

👍 It feels fitting the son of Tiny gets a good nickname.
It made me wonder what are the best sporting player nicknames . From rugby I love M1 (two hard shoulders) Dingwall. Not Nots - as in not London, not Irish. 36 for Billy Twelvetrees. In football Fitz Hall’s nickname of One Size. Any other good nicknames out there?

Whilst MacParland may have been deserving of some of the criticism levelled at him on this board. The coaches faith in him is starting to look well placed. He’s looked quite special tonight, very much out of the Mitch mould!

Really good to see what’s coming up behind our first choice squad, some very talented young men. I think every player was at least 7/10. So good to see the DNA of the club running through the entire playing squad.

This tournament will help McParland so much, it was a step down and he showed he has the talent and the class to shine… he just needs to believe it and us liot, me included need to as well!
He made a point of keeping their back row keen, n just showed he can play rugby!

Most pleasing thing tonight was mcparland and Cubitt makepeace completely out playing there more experienced opposite numbers. It's not prem level but both were very very good tonight along with others mentioned already . Starting to see why vesty raves about mcparland .

At U20s McParland was class, he struggled when brought on last season, he struggled this season, except was it last game?
This game was a step up from U20s n n step down from Premiership, he showed he has the ability to be a very good 9…. When Tom James joined us, I got so frustrated with him, but it was because all he had played was championship rugby and he always wanted that extra second, step, thought? N think he got told, get the ball n just play it…. Towards the end of the season, he’s got use to speed of premiership rugby… hopefully McParland will be the same and will then surpass James
Wow what a performance really entertaining, looking to run from anywhere on the pitch. They all stepped up tonight but amazing performances from Hendy, Pollock, hafar, and Makepeace-Cubbit the future looks good.

It's amazing to me how much George Hendy already looks like a Senior player.....at 22! He really does do some extraordinary things on a rugby field.

Not seen the match yet but from recent performances, Hendy appears to be a leader in the making, if not already. How many matches has he played since returning from injury. .. & making an impact in all.
If we can’t buy them then we need to grow them and we are very lucky to have such talented youngsters as Pollock, McPharland and Makepeace-Cubbitt.
Teeny looks ridiculously huge for an 18 year old. Almost as tall as Munga and already far wider. Playing first team tighthead having just turned 18 is crazy.

That was fun to watch.
It is hard to believe that Hendy and Pollack wont have an England shirt or two to their name. And there is clearly a lot of hype around them. But it is simple to believe we have quite a few more England players in our junior squad at the moment. And they grew into it as the game progressed. There are some incredible moves during that game. Some stunning side steps. And simply enjoying the amazing game. Plenty of mistakes, but I think the Saints way is that allowing mistakes also means there will be those moments that no other team can do.

No real surprise Young Master Pollock gets on the score sheet and showed up almost everywhere. His upside just seems to increase each time out. Critical for Saints to take it carefully with him - not too many games in a row and manage the minutes. He is still only 19 and has the possibility of an awesome career in front of him.
What struck me most about the game was the magnitude of effort put in by both teams. It was a fearsome contest with pace and agression for the full 80 mins. I feel sorry for the young Tiggers back three who deserve far more credit that they are likely to receive. Out played by their opposite numbers they could have lost the will and let their heads drop but no, they were still giving it all at the end. Hatherall was everywhere, and when Spencer came on he was visibly blowing after a couple of phases trying to match the pace and intensity. Wand looked very dangerous and yet it was Whitely and Shilcock who looked like the juniors on the pitch at times. If this is the future, I like it very much!
One of the big things we lost this season is fierce competition for lots of places. On last nights showing and with plenty more Prem cup games to come, I think first team players will start fearing for their shirts. This cup could have come at a great time for us.
Also worth noting that Nonleh, Smith and Benson are all getting starts against premiership competition (Bristol) for Bedford this weekend. The squads experience level is going through the roof thanks to the cup.

Yes both sides gave it all for the full 80 and it was good to see Tigers get a try towards the end.
Yes our back three are very raw but look good prospects.
Unfortunately our more ‘senior’ players didn’t really step up yesterday evening and areas we should have won on paper we certainly didn’t!
Interesting to see what a difference it made when our hooker had to actually strike for the ball, you stuffed us in those two scrums whereas with the now traditional feeding of the @#$%& there was rough parity.

I enjoyed watching Pollock's work off the ball as much as when he was involved in plays. His reading of the game and his instructions to other players makes him look like a future captain and team leader.
