I thought putting Billy Connolly as the image last week to infer that the selections thus far had been a joke would yield a change of luck.
It didn't - cheers Wilko for the drop goals.... Hence the arrival of Pooh... so we can hopefully extract ourselves from the (Get on with it! - Ed)
Another interesting week of ZP betting coming up, with a certain 'trip down the road' for us looking like a particulaly interesting game.
Gloucester v Leeds
Bit of a revival for Leeds, especially the win last weekend against the Tigers. A good win for Glos though, away from home for a change! - so I expect Gloucester to win by 18. Wellsaint agrees, but opts for a slightly smaller margin of victory of 12 to 15 points.
Leicester v Saints
Well will it be "Shiny Happy People" or "Everybody Hurts" on the tannoy come 4.45?
If you think there's a better or more important game this weekend you must be the "Man On The Moon!" (That's enough REM songtitles - Ed)
Can we make it two years in a row? We are still light in the pack (and the sad news of Renaud's enforced retirement does not help.) Wellsaint and I both agree - go with the Saints as the bookies should give them a small
start on the handicap.
Quins v Sharks
Wellsaint says Quins by 7 to 10. I think around that mark, maybe a bit more. Strange as I went to this game last year at The Stoop and Sale won 45-0!!!
Newcastle v Bath
I thought Newcastle looked lively last week in the 1st half and then died a bit at the beginning of the 2nd. Wellsaint says Bath, although I can see this as a home win, especially after the way they destroyed Gloucester there. Wellsaint says Bath by 6 - I think the Falcons by 7 in the end.
Irish v Roth
We both think Irish by lots, at least 20.
Sarries v Wasps
Wellsaint says "Another crackerjack of a game to call - and difficult at that! Sarries by four." I think Sarries too, but by slightly more. I would take them by 8.
At the time of finalising this article (Fri lunchtime) there were no handicaps available for these matches. Bookmakers, if you are reading this - SORT YOURSELVES OUT!! You can price
football up and have coupons in the shops by Tuesday for the weekend games - if you need an odds compiler, contact Wellsaint via the site!
Rant over... for now....
Rugby World Cup thoughts by Wellsaint
Selected games:
Wales - Italy: Wales are 11 point favourites for this game. On the balance of probabilities - I'd take Italy with the start.
Scotland - France: France are 23 point favourites. I'd side with les Bleus - they need a decent performance.
Ireland - Argentina: Ireland are 7 point favs. My call would be Ireland, (Ireland's Call - geddit? - oh, please yourselves!) but they will have to be on the top of their game.
England - Samoa: England are 49 point favs - I'd give this a swerve - if forced, I'd back England.
Have a good weekend...
and..
COME ON YOU SAINTS!!!
