History

The clubs first met in the 1894-95 season with those darn Tigers winning both games.
Saints won their first game over their local rivals a year later when a crowd of 7000 turned up to see them beat the Tigers 11-8. The following March the teams met up again (although two Leicester players incurred the wrath of the crowd by delaying kickoff by turning up at 4-00pm) the Saints again the victors 5-4. Playing that day was the Saint that never was, 'Bert Hannen'
They have met over a hundred times since and despite recent successes (see Annes stats below) for the Tigers suprisingly the overall win loss ratio is fairly even . The Tigers of course dominted proceeding in recent memory but the Saints are on a bit of a roll having beaten Leicester at Welford Road two seasons running. The game on saturday gives them the chance to complete their first league double over Tigers since me and your Dad were lads.
