James Buckland and Brett Sturgess made appearances for England and Matt Miles made another appearance for Wales but all our U21 internationals had bad days at the office with both sides losing out. England U21 lost 15-28 against Ireland U21 in the 1st U21 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mark Soden missed the game due to suspension following a red card but James Buckland started at hooker and prop Brett Sturgess came on as a replacement. The team underperformed and will now play against Argentina to decide the 7th – 8th position playoff. As the previous match between these sides was marred by a flurry of cards and Soden's dismissal the 7th-8th play off should make for interesting viewing!

Wales U21, featuring yet another young Saints hooker,Matt Miles, lost to Australia U21 after what they must view as an impressive World Cup. They will now play New Zealand in the 3rd-4th place play off.
